As anyone who has developed a piece of software will know, making a release is pretty time consuming, even when its a beta... Theres a lot more that has to go into it than just taking a nightly and renaming it...
Sounds like OS X to me. I think I've seen this before, though I can't remember what I did to solve it. Deleted the preferences possibly (a script to do this comes in the Disk Image (dmg) you downloaded).
avc1 also known as H.264 is much more CPU-intensive than XviD/ordinary previous MPEG4-standards. Thus, it's highly possible that your mac is too slow to play HD-H.264 content, although it may play videos of that size in other formats. For 720p-H.264 you need at least a 2 GHz single-core-G5 or an In...
Hey all I'm trying to play an MKV files on OSX, with a52 audi and avc1 video and the video stutters as it plays, missing 90%+ of frames. I've tried the same video on mplayerosx and it plays with stuttering sound... I've tried the latest nightlies on both 0.86 and 0.9 plus the release version and the...
When I use DirectX Video output, I get about a 30 - 60 sec pause when I start a video, with the sound still running and my cursor frozen. Then the screen goes black briefly then it pauses again. This is with transparency turned off. With it turned on, the same thing happens but it turns off transpar...
Yes, well, I've tried but ATI's Vista drivers are still in beta and are kind of broken... They won't let me have both my monitor's at their full resolution...
I just tried the nightly of 0.9 and it crashed as soon as I opened a file with a stack overflow. From the stack it looks like theres some function calling itself rather too many times! Don't have symbols or source, so I can't say what: > libvlc.dll!62e4fb47() libvlc.dll!62e4fb64() libvlc.dll!62e4fb6...
Sadly, VLC is kind of like this. Its too powerful for its own good. I believe there's a certain amount of work going into future versions to try to streamline things, but they really do need a GUI designer to put some time into making a simple but powerful GUI. I think that what you've said is the f...
I'm not sure if you're aware, but VLC behaves quite strangely on Windows Vista, at least on Business N which I'm using. OpenGL - renders very slowly, only a couple of FPS DirectX3D - Blank DirectX - glitchy, disables Aero (causing the whole screen to flash while that happens), with 'clone' selected ...
Is there a reason that the OS X version does not have a caching option whereas the Windows version does? I find this useful for unreliable wireless networks - I set it to about 3000 and things play fine. I'd like to be able to do this on OS X too. Is there a way to set this as a default for all file...
VLC does read disks in a different way, AFAIK, as it breaks the CSS encryption as it goes. This could affect it, but I can't see why it wouldn't be possibly to slow the disk down at least a bit...
What codec do your AVI files use? AVI can contain any number of different codecs, VLC may not support it (I've yet to come across this problem, but its certainly possible!).
I wouldn't be that surprised. 120fps is about 4-5 times higher FPS than the average video. What resolution was it? What OS? How fast a computer was it?
Are you aware that the full-screen controls on OS X are somewhat broken. They seem to be unreliable in appearing for the first time. The controls also fade out even while the cursor is over the controls and while the controls are being dragged around. Also, the intially appeared randomly on the left...
