Sluggish performance from command line start.

I have used vlc for viewing ip cameras for some time. I have shortcuts with the urls entered. After the latest update the video playback performance has been sluggish. While trying to correct this I've found that if I enter the url into the Ctrl+N menu the playback is normal. Here is a sample of the...

Stream source from cxm on freebsd

With no v4l support in freebsd. Would it be possible to use pass 'cat /dev/cxm0 | vlc ?? stream???' in the vlm telnet session??
I tried several diff combos in the telnet session but it just errors. I can cat /dev/cxm0 > file.mpg but would like to just stream from the device.

If your willing to switch from vlc, you could use motion on freebsd or linux. I use motion at work with several ip cameras set for motion detection record only.
Motion has a built in web server for each camera. Cpu loading is lite. HTH
