audio resampling

I'm wondering if there is a way to configure vlc to send audio to the audio device in a more direct way such as programs like Audirvana or fidelia do. I also noticed there is an option to use the "float32" output on windows vlc but not osx. Is it possible to configure vlc to use float32 in...

Re: Cannot DTS of DOLBY 5.1

That is interesting how that is the case. I don't think it is a limitation of the connection because the s/pdif standard is more than fast enough to transfer those other formats. My theory is that the manufacturers are trying to simplify everything with a standardized connection (hdmi).

Audio Device Number

There is an option in the preferences under audio>output modules>auhal that says audio device and has a field to select a number. The popup information says my "audio device" menu will tell me what device corresponds with what number but I cannot find this menu anywhere. Can someone please...

Re: 24/96 audio support?

I am running the latest version of VLC and OSX on a mac with the HAL Audio Unit module selected. I'm running everything through an M-Audio USB interface externally which the manufacturer claims will support up to 24/96. So in theory I should be able to play back audio with no down sampling as long a...

Re: Cannot DTS of DOLBY 5.1

Well you are correct about the usage of the term, "5.1" but what the forum is discussing is the transfer of what codecs VLC currently supports from the medium passing through to an external decoder. Since VLC doesn't support blu-ray movies at the moment we are talking about the varieties o...

24/96 audio support?

Ok I know VLC will play and show the proper information in the media information window for, "high definition audio formats" (that is anything above 16 bits per sample and 48Khz sample rate) but will VLC actually play the audio at those parameters if my audio device is setup for it or will...

Re: Cannot DTS of DOLBY 5.1

Don't know if this will help you but here's how I got the AC3 passthrough working on my PC running XP. I first had to enable the AC3 pasthrough in my audio device setup (which required me to upgrade to the latest drivers/software first). Then I enabled the use s/pdif when available in VLC. This caus...
