yes and if I only open vlc without a video the window is also really big anf fill complete window. It seems so it does not remember the last windows size. I use 1980x1024 as solution

I want the window only open so big as the video in normal size. How can I adjust this for each new video file I play with?

yeah to both windowed and fullscreenmode

create translucent mediacontrol buttons, which disappear once you don't need them. Similar like on Windows Media Player

Is this an error of the videoformat or of vlc?

VLC could support some color profiles. E.g. Nero Showtime has some pre adjusted profiles like Theatre, Warm...
This would be more comfortable then adjusting these balance controler
