Re: VLC multicast to WMP

There is alot about this I don't know - But I believe that a managed switching hub won't pass the broadcast to ports that have not subscribed to the multicast group (IGMP), as long as you use the right network number - 224.n.n.n may get passed to all anyway. And it wasn't the multicast I was having ...

Re: Live audio as (streaming) source in Ubuntu

Yes! I missed the JACK plug-in. From packages.debian.org: Jack audio plugins for VLC These plugins add support for JACK to the VLC media player. To activate the audio output module, use the `--aout jack' flag or select the `jack' audio output plugin from the preferences menu. For the jack input, use...

Although this doesn't help the WMP thingie; thanks to remi @ http://www.remlab.net/ : 17 June 2008 - DCCP is so convenient This only works on Linux: % LOCAL_IP=192.2.0.1 % vlc music/*.mp* --loop --sout \ "#gather:rtp{proto=dccp,dst=$LOCAL_IP,mux=ts,sap,name=\"DCCP channel\"}" % v...

Live audio as (streaming) source in Ubuntu

How do I get to a live audio (microphone) input on Ubuntu Intrepid w/ Studio (PulseAudio, etc.) into VLC 0.9.4 to stream it out multicast? I understand the Multicast part, and the equivalent live input is easy in windows by selecting DirectShow from the Capture dropdown. by Rémi Denis-Courmont on Mo...

Re: Change in internal audio behavior re: bit perfect audio

It is not likely that this is a VLC issue (like j-b said). You should probably read and understand this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=4928900 My guess is, what you were doing before was a glitch, and it is now fixed :? To do what you want, it might be better to not run Studio. (Install c...

Ok, I'll try my hand at parsing that... Streamout with a transcode to audio codec s16b (PCM) to an RTP multicast group 239.255.1.1, on port 5004 with an SAP announcement, so that 'My Stream' can be chosen from the playlist, while suppressing the video stream (it is now on by default). Re: VLC multicast to WMP

check that, I did have multicast streaming across a consumer switch. Both the Wireless and Home plug adapters were hosed, even though the connected machines had nothing to do with the streaming. Stopped the stream , and the MAC browser on the wireless came back to life. Things that make you go HUH. ...

Yo, bon3407 dude, why hijack this thread? create your own in the appropriate forum(MAC OS specific) and let them know what version of VLC you are running, also what created the file you are trying to play - think of any other details that might matter. peace, Jim p.s., if you will delete your post, ...

Re: Big problem with VLC.. and an easy fix - please

I thought I wanted to tone my last post down a little (I was a bit aggravated at a previous post in this thread ). But I do want to focus on and clarify the technical aspects of this thread. As always, Garbage in, Garbage out. I don't argue with any of the suggestions that will help the server...

Anyway, the moral of this story is to check the manufacturer' minimum hardware recommendations (that being Hauppauge). Even minimal Linux can't change that.

Re: Big problem with VLC.. and an easy fix?

Audio stream is raw PCM stereo 44100hz from Ubuntu 8.10 w/ latest PulseAudio; from a live audio source (soundcard). Client is dual core 64 bit AMD 2.4 Ghz, 3 GB ram w/ WinXP MCE; on 100Mbs wired LAN, switching hub, minimal traffic. VLC is http://people.videolan.org/~jb/build/vlc-1.0.0-git-win32.exe ...

Re: New Windows builds for vlc 1.0.0-dev

Got it - thought I was gonna have to use my cygwin here -- Thanks! I am listening to streaming PCM stereo. one thing I noticed in the messages: main debug: Stream buffering done (1001 ms in 1005 ms) doesn't make sense (to me), unless we have a time machine ;) Unforunately, the playback died in this ...

Re: multicast stream live audio from Linux

yeah, that is what I am doing w/ pulseaudio now (notwithstanding the bugs).

I would rather be using VLC, is there a method to get live audio into it on a linux box?

I thought I want users to access the stream with Windows media player, but VLMa might just take care of that.

multicast stream live audio from Linux

Ubuntu 8.10, VLC 0.9.8a, Pulseaudio/JACK/studio all just installed. What is the best way to multicast to Windows Media Player on LAN? I prefer VLC (it works great on WInXP/Directshow). But I have not found how to pickup live audio feed from soundcard input and get it into VLC on a smaller Linux box....

Re: VLC multicast to WMP

It is my understanding that multicast does not play well with WiFi. Google that, I've never tried.

mms: or mmsh: might be the key, although WMP doesn't support it anymore, so version dependant (maybe)

Re: Transcode with Hauppauge HVR 1600

1) Give us an idea of what kind of a box the HVR-1600 lives in - it may not be able to handle the mpeg2 on the PCI bus in the first place. (Not unlike mine). 2) You can lower the hardware encoding rate. I do not have complete documentation. from: http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/manuals/qi-hvr-1600.pd...
