I select an album (id tags are good, winamp and other players play these same files fine on my windoze box) and all the songs in the album, and it just plays in random order. random is off on the playlist, reset preferences, yet every album I play is out of order, like it is stuck in random mode.

Ubuntu 8.10, used VLC for over a year in Windows, but new to Linux. What else can I try?
