MMXEXT copy

I noticed that in the Windows version there are several optimised Memcpy functions, including MMX and MMXEXT. However, in the Debian nightly build, only libcmemcpy is available. Is this intended? I know from other programs that MMXEXT is often twice as fast as libc so I would like to use it! I thoug...

Sorry for the delay in replying. I've done some experimenting with the Windows version and it all seems to be down the "Source Aspect Ratio setting". If I leave it blank or set to 4:3 then everything works fine. If I set it to 16:9, the cycle-aspect ratio key fails to work. Now what is int...

I've just updated to the nightly build "SVN20060109" and the problem still occurs. I'm running Debian unstable and Xorg. The problem appears to occur when playing any video file. Not sure if it's relevant, but I've changed my Video settings to: Source Aspect Ratio: 16:9 Monitor Aspect Radi...

The hotkey is configured correctly because I only get the OSD message when I press the key.

I've just updated to the nightly build and the aspect ratio hot key has stopped working properly.

When I press the hot-key, the OSD says "Aspect Ratio: (null)" instead of cycling the ratio.

From the menus, I can change the aspect ratio so I guess it's just the hot key that's got broken.

Audio out of sync with Video after jumping

I'm finding that the audio becomes out of sync with the video after jumping forward by 10 seconds. It is very noticable, perhaps 500ms. Hitting pause followed by play fixes the problem - I guess it re-syncs the system. I am using S/PDIF and the problem occurs when streaming Dolby Digital and also wh...

I'm running Debian unstable (SID) with no problems.

I use the nightly builds, with this line in my sources.list:

S/PDIF glitch

Since upgrading to 8.4a I get a short burst of noise out of my Dolby Digital amp when I start playing a movie. This didn't happen with 0.8.3. My guess is that a buffer is not initialised to zeros on start up and so random data is sent over S/PDIF? I'm using Debian and ALSA. I've upgraded to the last...

The video really is 1368x768 - I made it myself! Interestingly, I also tried running the same video with the display set to 800x600 and it has the same problems, so I guess the graphics card is ok. I can play the video OK on a similar spec PC using Windows Media Player so I'm guessing the problem is...

HDTV optimiation

I'm trying to playback a video file which is the resolution of an LCD panel 1368x768. I find that the playback is very choppy mainly due to the CPU usage being at 100% all of the time. Can anybody offer any advice on how I could improve the situation. I was thinking that these might be possible plac...

Debian nightly build

There hasn't been a Debian i386 nightly build since 27th. Some people have very kindly been fixing issues for me, but without the build I can't test them!

Any chance of a new build?

Sorry, my fault! The Debian nightly build hasn't been updated since 27th. I've just downloaded the Win32 nightly and the new hot keys are there and work perfectly!

Thanks alot.

I've tried the nightly build labelled the 30th and it's still broken. Not sure how I tell if it's got the fix in or not?!

EDIT: This is wrong - please ignore! I actually downloaded the Debian nightly which hasn't been rebuilt since the 27th.

I've just tried the nightly build, dated 30th and I can't see an obvious HotKey Setting.

Have your changes not been built in yet or am I missing something?

Hot key to cycle Source Aspect-Ratio

There's a menu option to change the aspect ratio of the source video, however I would like to do this via my remote control and hence would like a hot key that cycles through the common modes - 4:3, 16:9, 2.35:1 etc.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

I use the released packages and haven't gone down the route of building it myself, so it's probably easiest if I just wait for 0.8.4a. I'll let you know if it fixes the problem.

Chris.

S/PDIF A/52 stopped working after upgrade to 0.8.4

I've just upgraded to 0.8.4 from 0.8.2 and I've found that A52 via S/PDIF has stopped working. When I say stopped working, I get no sound and my amp doesn't say "Dolby Digital" so I guess there's no signal over S/PDIF. On the command line, I get the following messages: [00000318] a52 decod...

DVD scaling to hi-res

When playing a DVD fullscreen and the resolution is higher than the DVD, when does the scaling happen - as part of the DCT or during the blit to the screen? In fact, is it possible to scale the resolution during the DCT? I'm asking because I'm interested in whether I would get better quality by driv...

VLC OSD duration incorrect

When VLC is playing from a DVD or .vob file, the OSD duration seems to be incorrect. Typically, the value is around half of the real duration. It appears to be some kind of time scaling issue because the progress bar does show the correct offset into the film, it is just the time that is wrong. I'm ...

Problem with Dolby Digital via SPDIF on EPIA-MII 12000

I can't get VLC to output the AC3 stream over SPDIF when playing back either any DVD or .vob file. I believe I've got all the right settings as the Audio menu defaults to SPDIF on start, but my amp doesn't detect a Dolby Digital stream. If I select Stereo from the Audio menu, the amp locks onto the ...
