Re: Issue with Windows 7 and Freebox HOME TV

You can watch most channels from the Freebox. I'm using Windows 7. Don't use the m3u, but go to the Média menu and select Découverte de Services - Chaînes Freebox TV Then open the playlist / liste de lecture and click on the Chaînes Freebox on the left. Remark: I only get errors if I try to read the...

Re: Decreasing quality of H.264 stream

Well, with 0.9.8a things worked well (but no longer the case). Unfortunately I don't know if the sender changed something since then. The first versions of releases of 1.0.0 didn't work at all but then started working a while ago (I made a post at that time). But now the quality is simply too poor. ...

Re: Decreasing quality of H.264 stream

Yes, I do get such messages and much more with verbosity set to 2. Even with verbosity set to 1 there is a bunch of messages. I prefer link to the log files in order not to fill the message dialog with too many lines. I can't interpret the messages, but it seems sound is a problem too - unless the s...

Decreasing quality of H.264 stream

With 0.9.8a and since a while also with the night builds of 1.0.0 I had a reasonable quality watching the following stream: rtsp://streamer-01.dr.nordija.dk:80/dr1high But now the quality is so poor that it is not worth watching news or films from this stream. I have tried modifying options in Other...

Re: Problem with YouTube H.264 FLV files

They play fine without download to hard disk, but are you sure something changes when changing the last to digits of the URL:
It starts playing in my page whatever figure I put, or even when I remove the last part of the url.

There is nothing special to do - search for the video you want to view, copy the link showing on the right side in the part called "URL". If you use one of the 1.?.? versions you can paste directly using CTRL+V or you can manually write or paste from menu Medie > Open Network Stream.... Ex...

What about simply setting the language to French and then click the Help = Aide menu at the right side of the menu bar ? To set language to French - Tools>Options>Interface>Language (dropdown at the right side of the dialog - scroll down to 'Français'). See also these two screenshots: http://dl.free...

Streaming sound from the sound card & visualizations

I can stream all sound from the sound card, save to a file and play the file on the TV (profiting of Home Theater). I do this wireless with the following batch file, probably only working with French subscribers to the provider www.free.fr: @Echo Off set VLC_PATH="c:\program files\videolan\vlc\...

Freebox TV listing (French ISP free.fr services)

This French provider has just updated the "box" software with UPnP support, and since this change I get error messages when trying to view a channel with VLC (using the Service discovery). This is the error: Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'rtsp://mafreebox.freebo...

Re: Live video can record in it?

If you know what the url/link of the stream is, you can try to add it via the first menu: Media > Open network - and paste the link in the address line. Not all streams will play. If it can play via VLC there is a good chance that you can record too: Menu > Media - Convert/Stream > Network etc. etc....

Re: New Windows builds for vlc 1.0.0-dev

Finally! I think I have tested the different 1.0.0 the last couple of months, and from the 10th April nightbuild the rtsp streams are "beginning" to work. Absolutely perfect with e.g. rtsp://mafreebox.freebox.fr/fbxtv_pub/stream?namespace=1&service=620 (you need a French 'Freebox' subs...

I just tried and it worked first time. I had not insisted so far (I wanted in English but I only had French because this is Windows default on my computer). As far as I can see the language choice dropdown is only available in 'simple' mode Settings - perhaps I'm wrong, but I didn't notice it anywhe...

Renaming a text file to an extension associated with VLC works well - this is the case even if the content is not with the same extension. E.g. if a *.avi inside a file named video.ts The content can be anything that can open with VLC. Edit by renaming to *.txt or right click 'open with' notepad or ...

Re: Odd problem with VLC 0.9x and Windows 7

I have tested both 0.9.8a and 1.0.0 on Windows 7 and they are both working well - or should I say with the same limitations as I find with Vista, so your problem could be linked to your hardware configuration.

Separate Interface and Video Window

My interface was integrated for a long time with 0.9.8a for long time, but today when installing the nightly build 0.9.9 I "lost" this feature and I found no way to recover it again by manipulating the preferences. I also have a backup copy of the vlcrc settings file - I made that when all...

I just tested the m3u, and it opens in VLC and I hear the audio. The asx I had to chose "download". Afterwards it by default opened in Windows Media Player. And I heard the audio. I forced the file to open with VLC and....it works also very fine...So there must be an issue with your config...

Guten Abend Thomas, I just checked from France (I downloaded two of the playlists). VLC is not crashing, but no audio or video. One set is RTP and the other UDP. Re: How To Drag n Drop Songs Into VLC to Play

I just tested/confirmed with 0.9.8a and dragging works fine - this is true whether you drag to the vlc shortcut on the desktop or towards a playing window - works for audio or video. You can also drag a playlist file. I think I managed to do that with 0.8 versions also. If options are set to play on...

Re: New Windows builds for vlc 1.0.0-dev

Well, I should conclude then that the 1.0.0 has less/no streaming options than the 0.9.8a where everything works perfectly (I have put Windows 7 on another partition with 0.9.8a).
I tried installing on an old XP computer too and same problem.
