Re: DVB-T + BDA + VLC

It will take 6-8 weeks to get to Oz and a bit more time unpacking at that end so I'll be out of action for a while yet. One of my motivations for writing the dvb module was to provide a more versatile capture engine for Webscheduler providing more options for streaming and transcoding. Am I right i...

Re: DVB-T + BDA + VLC

I am in the process of moving house and my media PC is in pieces ... Ken, Where are you? Haven't heard from you for about 3 weeks now. With Terry's help I'm so close to finally streaming something at reasonable quality - and you're probably still up to your eyebealls unpacking boxes! The joy...

Re: problem with VLC

If you wind your way through this thread, you'll see there's an option for picking one program and one program from the stream; http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=35357 It fgoes something like: :programs=<program pid> :sout=#duplicate{dst=std{access=http, mux=ts,dst=<your host ip>:<yo...

Re: DVB-T + BDA + VLC

I have transcode as necessary, not always. Could be an issue, I also use screen size of 640 x 480, but I do not think that is an issue. Yeah, I transcode when needed too. I have an iPod and use aac encoding that TVersity transcodes when I play my music library at home. I agree that the screen size ...

Re: DVB-T + BDA + VLC

D'oh! Dopey me! Can't even get the command line right. Thanks to your help I finally have got VLC to stream something to the DSM. Interestingly I tried DIV3 as you suggested and, while I could get graphedit to render it and I could play it locally using TVersity on the PC, the DSM wouldn't pl...

Re: DVB-T + BDA + VLC

I must be holding my tongue the wrong way! I can't get graphedit to accept ANYTHING I send from VLC. I can render internet video in it, like http://mpegmedia.abc.net.au/tv/mediawatch/mediawatch_2007_ep22.wmv perfectly. But download and try to stream the same thing from VLC and graphedit just ...

Re: DVB-T + BDA + VLC

My, you have been busy! :) Thanks for all the great info. One thing I don't understand is why transcode to WMV2 to feed TVersity which (I think) transcodes it back to mpeg to feed the DSM (which doesn't do WMV)? Or is that simply to work with the mmsh protocol?

Re: DVB-T + BDA + VLC

... a second version of VLC8.6c as per my initial post of a week or 2 ago on dual core Pentium D950 (3.4ghz). Works well enough but just seems somewhat inefficient and does max out my system on decent transcode bit rates, have to scale it down a bit with scale=0.625 as well to ensure HD channels as...

Re: DVB-T + BDA + VLC

Terry, This is great stuff! :D I've been trying for over 2 years to stream my Fusion dvb-t card to the DSM-320. So, if I understand correctly, you are saying that you need to use the nightlies (VLC 9 which have DVB-T support) to stream to VLC 8.6c to stream (using mmsh) to TVersity to serve the DSM-...

The part of the magic that's not happening is, I think, a broader VLC issue in that the only thing that will pick up the URL I'm streaming is VLC. My mediaserver won't recognise the http URL. It will recognise it if I use mmsh - but nothing streams. :( Graphedit won't accept either URL. :( But VLC ...

Its only live viewing where the audio stream seems to be falling behind causing large chunks to be dropped. Is there any way to save one channel only to a file instead of the whole TS ? I think this is where the program=program-id option comes in - but you'' need to know the program-id. Check the "messages" in display mode. I think the program-id's are listed when the ts stream is initially ide...

Thanks Ken. I had tried reading the help info and tried copying the stream command from the GUI version (which had "sout" to a "url" which was a file destination) but that didn't work so I was stuck. I'll be intrigued if, as I think has been said before, that the file plays OK. M...

Just for my 2 cents worth, I have noticed that the WDM capture card device (mines a DVICO Fusion) requires "good" software to make it work well. While I don't know the "techy" aspects, I have used my capture card with a myriad of software (mostly OEM) for vastly varying results. ...

Unfortunately HDTVPump does indeed stop Nero7 doing what I want it to do. After I installed HDTVPump, the next time I re-booted, NeroVision4 (in the Nero7 suite) wouldn't accept my ts files to convert to mpeg. De-registered HDTVPump, re-booted, and all was well again. I've got to re-install it again...
