okay after playing around with processor speed it looks like i will just need to get a new cooler because when running at full speed it worked very well...at least laptop coolers dont cost that much. Thanks man...btw, i saw you run debian...im ubuntu...linux rocks doesnt it lol

i had been cutting the cpu speed because i do not want my laptop to get overheated (my cooler went out a couple months ago...i will put it at full speed (1.7 ghz) and run it for a while and see what happens...if that doesnt take care of it i will try a dif dvd.

I tried 1000, then 3000 and i am still getting some skipping. Any other settings. I am running ubuntu linux, on a dell inspiron 6000. I have 1 gig ram...however it is a pretty crappy video card with only 64m of vram

I am having a problem. When I play a DVD there is some frame loss occuring causing the movie to skip every once in a while. However, if i play a movie from my hard drive there is substantially less frame loss. Why and how can I fix it.
