They work independently, so no need to have both. But you can also have both if you want. It doesn't cause any issues. no, I have never even heard of media classic,,do I HAVE to have VLC and Classic BOTH installed,,??? or can I just use media classic?

what do yoy mean by classic,,is it another media player like VLC? my dvd-rw are discs that you can rewrite to over and over again,,,,
