Using the latest mplayer (with the smplayer front-end to be more precise), I have no problems at all. Is MPlayer using a newer (or older) libavcodec?

I just tried that, but the frame-freeze still happens. After some further testing, I notice H.264 videos still freeze some but xvid and divx don't freeze anymore. I have the same problem. If this problem can't be solved, it is reason enough for me not to use VLC anymore. Is there a log file I can post or other info I can provide that can help solving this problem?
