Hello, I'm currently trying to play some old xvid ogms and am running across repeated messages of "picture is too late to be displayed" I currently have caching turned up to 6k milliseconds with no impact. EDIT: I've converted the ogm in question to matroska using mkvtoolnix as a test and ...
There is a possibility you're ending up with I/O bottlenecking on the disk. Thoughts on potential config options to smooth this: Open preferences, click "show all", click on "input/codecs", scroll down until you reach a set of sliders reading "file caching" "live c...
Hey, I have an H264 matroska with 5.1 48000hz flac that's stuttering pretty badly (2 seconds of video for 4 seconds of silence). I've tried it with 2.1.4 and 2.2.0 git (latest build on the vlc nightlies page for x86_64). behavior is the same with both. Local file on OS drive (I wanted to exclude any...
Aberrant behavior: Video will randomly freeze for 5-10 seconds, debug window when pulled up will have the log posted below. video format most heavily impacted: xvid avi, general mpeg4 in any container. (least affected, h.264 matroska) System Summary: OS 10.8.2 Processor Name: Intel Core i7 Processor...
I'm seeing this as well. osX 10.8.2 vlc 2.0.5 2.2ghz intel core i7 16 gigs ram and swap running off an SSD. when I see the trace like the one above, my cpu is not even hitting 10% if it helps, the videos which do this tend to be mpg4 avi files (as opposed to matroska or mp4) - though the behavior is...
I've tried some with too many tracks to count, and others with just one, and it appears the number doesnt matter, but they do have subs. (I think they're ASS-the abbreviation, NOT the swear word!!)
Recently, I've been running into a lag in opening matroska files in vlc. This is something which has not happened in my years of using the program. I upgraded from 1.0.2 to 1.0.3 but the problem still persists. Standard definition is taking 15 or more seconds. I've gone digging in the settings, and ...
I've run across a series of matroska encodes which were released using haali's "chapters" to do this: The OP is encoded separately but will be played on each file as if it is encoded there If played using default settings for VLC, it will cause the first minute of each file to play in an e...
I have come across a particularly nasty bug in VLC's playlisting and am interested in whether or not it's a known issue. If I load a playlist with matroska and avi files, the player will fail to play any AVI files after the first matroska file (and will refuse to play anything from then on, but does...
I had this happen once on my g5, not the slowing down to a crash part though. when the player crashed on me (grabbed the latest stable one today) it took the finder with it. it was not a reproducable error though, after that it played quite well. for reference on video processing capacity, the file ...
it should be on the disk image for vlc (the one you downloaded to install the player) if you deleted that image you can always fetch another from the site. (protip, it's best to copy everything on the image to a folder marked with the VLC version number in your apps folder, the notes and scripts are...
The topic says it all, i have 3 concerns. i've recently been seeing a lot of matroska with DTS and have no solution for playback. (i use vlc nightlies and mplayer compiled from source) I was using an old nightly so i come back to the nightly build page to update my VLC only to find the PPC builds no...
So.. i cant find any obvious settings in my osX client to allow me to get persistent video and audio settings in my playlists. (in this case i have a bunch of files that default to english when i want japanese with subtitles) on a related note, postprocessing seems to be the same way. i can only ass...
Yep.. I can use default or opengl.. If I set it to quartz (which has the best record for quality, stability, and efficiency for me for the past few years).. I get a black screen instead of video feed. EDIT: WHOOPS!... I didn't read the intel sticky... Feel free to delete this post.. i'll be i...
Same here.. and this is a dual 2.7 ghz G5 with 2 gigs of ram and serial ata hard drive. it's rediculous that such a well established video player should suddenly develop lagging due to i/o problems. (edit: of course VLC is not the only player which has developed this issue. the X.3 to X.4 transition...
I know the implementation of X.264 is experimental, but being as it is i wanted to further it's development by reporting the playback issue i noted with mkv's in 0.8.4 (official) & 0.8.5(latest nightly build) for osX. Before i go on describing the erroneous behavior, I'll say I'm uploading the f...
I suggest you write your congressman, because this kind of thing is imposed by law even though it violates numerous national and international anti-trust laws. It's illegal to impose region codes in europe and (i believe) in australia, the US and Canada seem the only places where the government care...
From what i've experienced over the years it appears VLC has not implemented persistence in track settings.. in other words... you need to reset it for each track. It is annoying mind you, but i think enough people have made a stink over this that it will probably be implemented in the next version ...
if you're running OS X. close VLC (make sure it's not running) Go to the system search and type in "VLC". look for and delete the file named "org.videolan.vlc.plist" empty the trash. VLC should relaunch with the preferences reset to default. The same basic principle applies if yo...
