This is a very frustrating problem. I just installed v1.1.1 and it's still not fixed. Is there any news about a potential fix?

if vlc window is not in focus, then mutilmedia keyboard controls only affect windows volume , not VLc volume ( for me anyway).so just click outside of VLC window then adjust volume

i found a simple workaround - if the VLC window is not in focus then turning my leyboard volume knob, or using my remote control volume up/down buttons only moves windows volume.
