Re: Forbidden access to forums using IE9

I use IE9 without any issue to access this website. This is on Windows 7 64 bits. strange, because that is what I use. so I guess it must be due to an extension. I use roboform with IE9, to handle log-ins. maybe you are blocking that. guessing here as "spam relay" is not something I know ...

Re: Sound blip's when pausing?

Wait for VLC 2.0.1, it should work better with audio.
2.0.1. has not fixed the stutter when you pause or slow the playback speed.

Re: very slow start up on 1st usage only

ccleaner is not the cause of slow start. it only removes recent art, not the whole cache. I have tested run clcleaner - then open VLC.- I get no slowdown. also, if I was losing my %appdata%\vlc folder then Id be losing my customised controls & would notice that immediately ? I also noticed a sin...

Re: very slow start up on 1st usage only

Update check is threaded. So it won't slowdown startup. Only thing that comes to my mind is that your %appdata%\vlc folder is wiped during restart, and VLC has to generate cache again. that would only happen if I had some clean up app - like ccleaner - running at startup or at shutdown, yes? I don'...

Wait for VLC 2.0.1, it should work better with audio. OK - in the meantime what caching options , if any, could help with reducing stutter ? also, please note 1. I get the same stutter when reducing playback speed using slower ( fine) hot key to reduce playback speed by 10% ( with time stretch enab...

very slow start up on 1st usage only

upgraded to v2.0 I now get a ~20second delay when I first launch VLC after windows startup. but only on 1st use - it is fine thereafter. a pain to debug as a reboot would be needed for each test! any suggestions as to what settigns could be causing these or for how to log the initial start up next t...

Re: Forbidden access to forums using IE9

Hi, I'm getting "403 forbidden" when trying to access the forums using IE9 :( I have to use IE9 dev tools (f12) each time and change to user agent Mozilla Firefox, then access is ok. Its the only user agent that works. All the other agents including Chrome, Opera, IE6, 7, or 8 fail. Tim i...

Re: Sound blip's when pausing?

I have the same problem. I switched to win32 waveout and the blips/pops when pausing went away but when I pause a video the audio keep playing for about 1/4 - 1/2 second after the video stops. When playing a paused video the audio will be out of sync for about 1-2 seconds then it resyncs. I'm using...

any technical reason why is it not possible or just because no-one has requested it ?

because I operate VLC player with a remote ( like operating a DVD player with a remote) I want to assign it to a button ( it is commonplace on "real" consumer device remotes)

Re: When playback incomplete vids, often old deleted vids pl

it is not a VLC cache issue - easily proven by using a different media player. VLC is simply playing from the area of your HD which will ( eventually) hold the complete download, and it is playing what happens to be currently at that HD location. you can prevent it by scrubbing/erasing ( with suitab...

I have the same problem but only with Left Key. VLC didn't fixed it even in v1.1.4. My habbit is to keep backup of previous working version. So, I am using v1.0.5 now which is good enough for me and working fine. I am more any more tempted to revert to 1.05 & forget the whole 1.1... series. not...

Those files usually don't contain copyrighted material. So they aren't illegal in that sense.
maybe so - you don't cvopyrigth a virus! - but I bet that the movie he was hoping to steal & watch is copyright & therefore illegal.

& whya re we even discussing this in VLC forum ?

FYI - with Xp, you have to have the MMC version of XP installed., you can't add MMC to other flavours of xp , like home or PRo. but you can add the microsoft remote + IR receiver & get basic functionality - like using direction keys & OK button to navigate folders, and using play/pause etc w...

two vlc solutions below, also you can try mediaportal as a freeware alternative to microsoft media center software. 1. right click method. naviagate to the folder containing the movie yyou want to watch, right click the folder, slectplay with VLC. ( if that option is not present you'll ahve to reins...

What is the problem?
the "problem " has nothing to do with VLC - it's about playing illegal downloads of movies which are virus infected - just lock the thread.

can we get back to fixing the bugs in the 1.1 vlc series please.

PS - if previous poster is that desparate to watch his infected + stolen "movie" - then burn it to CD or DVd, put DVd into stand-alone DVD player... then go away.
