Re: larger display + keep focus in player

the default VLC layout is absolutely fine - I'd jsut like to make it x2 large when playing a music file !

because on a large screen ( 1680x1050) it appears quite small.

Re: vob default aspect ratio bugs

I'm now looking at a diferent file with possibly a different bug, It is a vob taken from a concert dvd 4:3 ratio and converted to avi with DIVX converter. but in this case the AVI also looks wrong. Gspot says it's now 13:10. (628x 480) but that the VOB was 4:3 (720 x 480 with par 0.89 ). I will reru...

Re: larger display + keep focus in player

Skins2 and default QT4 interface are two different interfaces modules for VLC. With Skins2 you can builds custom skins where you can naturally have e.g bigger play buttons. You can also customize QT4 interface via View -> Customize interface... but you really can't get any bigger buttons. OK thanks...

Re: vob default aspect ratio bug

have to be a paid up member to upload on those ? Both are free. ok, I did not realise that. I am uploading a vob file to rapidshare. this is supposed to 4x3 aspect but appears vertically stretched in VLc - you'll see the differece if you force 4x3 in aspect raio controls. Re: vob default aspect ratio bug

Rapidshare or Megaupload or similar service is OK. have to be a paid up member to upload on those ? yousendit is free for up to 100mb but has to be for a specific recipient email address. maybe simpler for you to just test with any.VOB files you have to hand e.g. from inside any DVD video_TS folder

vob default aspect ratio bug

is there a problem in 1.02 with .vob file default aspect ratio ? I am currently using a 2 step DVD to avi conversion process, which preserves original audio and which removes the annoying black bars from some DVd rips, that other rippers leave behind: step 1: I make vob from DVD files using VOB pass...

broken AVi - , ignore, repair - ask, ignore etc options

I have to turn off the default "ask" setting for AVI files that VLC does not like, as it does not like most of my old ones. ( i.e. anything ripped from DVD with IMTOO software) ! It would be more satisfying though to run a repair process - in batch ideally as there are lots of files - so t...

Re: hotkeys prefs problems

Normal hotkeys only react when focus is on VLC itself. Global ones should work when VLC doesn't have focus (like when you play World of Warcraft).
thanks _ I thought it was something like that. but do VLC global keys last after I shut down VLC or only while VLC is still open ?

so what is the difference between setting a global hoteky & a regular one - let's say I make ENTER the regular hotkey for play/pause but make SPACE the global one - what have I then done & has it affected anything other than VLC ?

Re: hotkeys prefs problems

You can manually edit %appdata%\vlc\vlcrc with text editor and uncomment global-* options and assign keys to them.
thanks - I did not know that, but vlcrc is pretty unreadable in notepad - what text editor do you suggest ?
