Re: VLC for Android 3.1.x is out

The new version no longer sees any of the media files on my SD card. Go into Settings | Media library folders and check various boxes - go back out - then back in - and nothing has persisted. Uninstalled/reinstalled, rebooting: neither of these fixes the problem. LG Aristo running Android 7.0. 128 g...

vlc keeps reading metadata

vlc 3.0.13 on an LG Aristo running Android 7.0. It seems every time I open/reopen vlc it has to read the metadata again - which takes a min or two but is annoying and shouldn't occur if I consider that it should save that information somewhere. I have a library of some 6,000 files on an SD card. I w...

Re: Does 1.3 work with xvid?

Thanks - that works.

Is there someplace I can watch (say a bug page) that will let me know when the problem is fixed?

Re: Does 1.3 work with xvid?

I should add.

I'm on Windows 7 64 bits and normally use the nightly versions for 64 bits (they were broken for a while but are working again). I've tried my xvid clips also with the 32 bit version of vlc 1.3 with the same result (crash - same error message from the msvc runtime).

Does 1.3 work with xvid?

I use Avidemux2 2.5.4 to pull sections out of longer videos and typically reencode with xvid. I find that every time I try to play these with vlc 1.3 the clips crash like this: --------------------------- Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library --------------------------- Assertion failed! Program: ......

Re: VLC 1.3.0 won't open

thanks nkoriyama. The PKG_PROG_PKG_CONFIG is m4_require'd but not m4_defun'd problem in bootstrap was my own. I'd forgotten cp -v /usr/win32/share/aclocal/* m4/ cp -v /usr/share/aclocal/* m4/ from http://wiki.videolan.org/Win32CompileMSYSNew It seems there are many things that can cause one to stumb...

Re: VLC crash in win 7 x64 while watching IP TV

I went to c:\users\ME\appdata\roaming and renamed the old vlc directory and now all the latest vlc's run just fine.

So it was something in the startup/config files.

Re: VLC crash in win 7 x64 while watching IP TV

Windows 7 x64. In just the last day or two all vlc's from June or July crash immediately upon startup. Once I get back to my saved version (all 1.2) from January, it runs fine. Tried to follow all the debugging information listed here but never got a well-behaved backtrace. What I finally found is t...

Re: VLC Crashing

I see.

Trunk doesn't work, but Branch (1.0.5) does work. For at least XVID that is.

Don't know exactly why. But the fix to get things working was simple enough.

Re: VLC Crashing

I'm guessing that vlc looks for its codecs only in c:\windows\system32 (which is actually the 64-bit system) and not c:\windows\sysWOW64. Wrong. All codecs VLC use are on VLC directory (plugins folder). VLC cannot use DirectShow or VfW codecs. Your WMP and VLC issues aren't related. OK fine - what'...

Re: VLC Crashing

I'm having the same problem. Just got a new laptop loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium. I typically download a nightly zip of vlc and put it somewhere other than c:\program files. Run vlc, drag and drop (the wrong kind) of video file onto it and vlc crashes. "The wrong kind" ... N.B. AVIs d...

Are bookmarks fixed?

https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/2100 I believe this ticket indicates that Bookmarks are not fixed yet? At least I can't get them to work in either the latest trunk or branch nightly nor in the latest released version 0.9.9. I'm on Windows. When bookmarks do work I assume (from the documentation...

Re: hit "next frame' several times in succession and vlc freezes

After how many times?
generally 5 times is sufficient.

I might add that I'm reading from a 5400rpm disk (on a laptop).

hit "next frame' several times in succession and vlc freezes

I'm using the latest nigthlies - tried both trunk and branch. Hitting 'e' or "next frame" several times in succession - whether fast or slow - causes vlc to freeze. The only remedy I've found is to kill and restart vlc.

I'm reading a DVD burned to disk. Codec says it's 'mpgv'.
