DVD not playing properly on VLC 2.1.2 and Mac Mountain Lion

My apologies if ths topic is covered in one of the dozens of similar posts, but I have not found one that applies exactly to my set-up. I have VLC 2.1.2 on a Mac mini (which has no internal optical drive) and play DVDs on a LaCie external drive. Commercial DVDs play correctly in the Apple DVD player...

Re: VLC 0.9.10 for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger - bug reports wanted!!

I recently posted the following in a new stream, not having spotted this request for bug reports, so here it is again: * Edit post * Report this post * Reply with quote VLC cannot open encoders Postby Michael Graubart on Sat Nov 14, 2009 9:48 pm Computer: Mac G4 (PowerPC), OS X 10.4.11 I used to use...

Re: VLC cannot open encoders

PS: Since posting the above, I have found a site that has a universal version of VLC 0.9.9a and have downloaded and installed it. So I am back to square one. But I should still be grateful for any information about VLC 0.9.10 not being able to open its encoders.

Re: VLC cannot open encoders

Further to my cri de coeur above, if it turns out that VLC 0.9.10 (PPC version) or VLC 0.9.10 (universal version), both of which I have now tried (and both of which failed to open their encoders) is not compatible with my computer (Mac G4 PPC, OS X 10.4.11) despite the VideoLan website listing them ...

VLC cannot open encoders

Computer: Mac G4 (PowerPC), OS X 10.4.11 I used to use VLC 0.9.9. I today discovered that there was a later version for Tiger, viz. 0.9.10 Grishenko - (c), and installed this. When I tried to transcode and save a stream (which played perfectly well in this new VLC), I got an error message, saying th...

Cannot save stream

Here are the details of my system: Computer: Mac G4 (PowerPC), OS X 10.4.11. VLC: 0.9.9a Grishenko - (c) (PowerPC). I have been trying to save to disk a short video-and-sound stream from a website. This is the address of the stream: <http://cgi.omroep.nl/cgi-bin/streams?/nps/cultura/CU_Varese_Etude....

Re: DRM problem? BBC iPlayer WMV files

I, too, have been trying to play video files downloaded by the BBC IPlayer Desktop in VLC. My reason is that my Mac is a PPC one (G4,OS X 10.4.11)) and playback of the downloaded videos is hopeless: jerky, with sound not synchronized with picture. I am not that interested in removing the DRM stuff a...

Re: Cannot stream from a URL

Thanks so much for that. It works fine now. I realize what I did wrong: I used the bottom option of the three (http:/ftp…) instead of the top one (UDP/RTP). Best wishes for Christmas and New Year.

Cannot stream from a URL

I have just installed VLC 0.9.8 on a Mac G4 (PPC) with OSX 10.4.11. I am obviously being a complete idiot — but for the life of me I cannot get it to play a live audio broadcast (e.g. from a radio station) or a video (e.g. from YouTube). And as a result, of course, I cannot get it to save such audio...
