Re: Ubuntu Hardy git build error

Have vlc git running now

One thing I did different was make -j5 on extras/contrib make step which still had some build issue with x264 i think

I haven't tested x264 yet so if someone could point out an x264 test suite I would appreciate it.

Ubuntu Hardy git build error

Following jbk instructions here http://www.jbkempf.com/blog/post/2008/03/28/Build-VLC-media-player-under-Ubuntu-Hardy-804 didn't quite work - wouldn't configure but this did ../configure --prefix=/usr --enable-snapshot --enable-debug --enable-dbus-control --enable-musicbrainz --enable-shared-libvlc ...

vlc - dvb-t - which hd audio codec?

Sorry for the stupid question. Built 0.8.6f - happy - enable-dvb [literally ./configure --enable-dvb --enable-h264 so that everything else was as default], FIle Open ... channels.conf and I get the stations in the playlist and sound on all the channels except the HD channels. I get the video but no ...

Videolan wiki vandalised

lot's of spamish links on the main page and all over the place.

I can't see a link to report it and I don't have an account or even know enough about wiki's if I did to fix it.

Thx

Found the wall option is working fine here. Hmm new toy.

But the other option I can't find for linux is where you can have the desktop wallpaper as the movie being played. I know it is there for Windows. Don't know about Mac.

EAC and Foobar2000 What url & port are these 2 programs using? If you can't find it, try changing the port in vlc to 80 I have no idea what the -1 is about, you can try changing if you want but it is probably hidden and unlabeled for a reason. If port 80 doesn't work, you can try changing it to ...

DMCA anyone?

If vlc people wanted to - could they get Cnet and download.com takedown with a DMCA copyright infringement notice?

Hit their upstream provider until they remove the "offending" item(s).

Not sure how rough you want to play.

Tried to post this at your blog

Their name usually comes up.

They should be able to help with advice at least.

I assume you have tried to get the story posted to slashdot, etc?

I can't check any of these at the moment as I am still rebuilding my machine - so I will hit this problem by the weekend. Are any other media/movie plugins installed? If the default media plugin is pointing to the Ubuntu default player I don't think it does quicktiume/.mov. Just because vlc plugin i...

Flash/Mozilla - hopefully not too stupid (?) a question

Am running Ubuntu Dapper - fully up-to-date. If I compile the mozilla plugin and have flash working in vlc, then convince firefox to use vlc as its media thingy - will flash based websites work properly? Getting (particularly) the latest version (9?) of flash to work with firefox is a pain, worse as...
