What is this "display adapter" you speak of?

Two possibilities come to mind.

(1) A VGA card used to attach a computer monitor

(2) A video card used to sample and capture TV signals, and the other direction as well.

That sounds right. What is TV-out? Hardware? Software? A VLC feature?

Bug or feature?: No obvious way to send video output to a TV

Is this a bug or a feature? Perhaps the feature I am requesting is not part of the scope of the VLC program and therefore I should look for another software? Would someone please explain the design philosophy of VLC? It seems that the designers have a single-viewer-centric paradigm. A guy watching v...

Anybody been able to send video output to a Matrox card?

Has anyone out there been able to redirect the video signal from the PC monitor, through a Matrox video card, to a regular TV?

Has anyone been able to achieve the above with any video card at all?

TIA,

Ability to redirect video from computer monitor to a TV

This would be a very desirable feature, if I may say so. Many computer monitors are relatively small and most computer users own a TV. I just put two plus two together, and voila! a brilliant idea! The possibility of seeing *.avi and all the other formats in a screen actually designed to watch movie...

5 downloads per second, and 5 postings per month

Am I the only one that is perplexed by the lack of activity in the VideoLAN forums?

One would expect much higher traffic in these desolate forums, if there were indeed 5 downloads per second.

What card should I use to send video output to a TV?

I understand that the video card industry has undergone a fundamental shift. Companies like Pinnacle decided that CPUs are so capable these days, there is no need for hardware and are refocusing the company to software solutions. Two questions: (1) Even with the fastest CPUs, we still need physical ...

Re: I Don't Know What I Am Doing!!

I seems that you need some hardware (a card) between the regular TV signals and your computer. You should begin by checking the connectors available. Check your TV and the coaxial cable provided by your cable company. Can you plug anything from the TV space into the computer space? Do you see a coax...

What exactly is streaming?

What is streaming?

It sounds like it is related to a live video signal. If a disk-based *.avi movie is sent to a video card and from there to a regular TV is that considered streaming or just playback?

TIA,

How to select an alternate output device?

Note: this question has nothing to do with video acquisition/capture. I am exclusively interested in playback. Since my PC monitor is not that great, I would like to play *.avi movies on a regular TV. I have been looking in the menus and it seems that I should choose "streaming" in order t...
