hi, i use VLC media player 0.8.6e on Ubuntu Hardy. Recently i used scan to get a channels.conf to use my dvb-t stick together with vlc. It works nicely, but changing channels takes a lot of time. I assume this is because vlc kind of exits and starts again for changing the playlist item. I found this...
