Re: Sound doesn't follow HDMI to TV

Audio -> Devices -> HDMI whatever
Audio, Audio Devices is greyed out, even while video is playing.

But now the sound is coming from the TV, so never mind! :-)

Sound doesn't follow HDMI to TV

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 laptop that dual-boots Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 It works like a peach under Windows. Under Linux, though, when I drag VLC to an external TV connected via HDMI, the sound still plays from the laptop. I poked around in Tools, Preferences but nothing jumped out. Any solutions?

Fullscreen always on primary monitor

If I move VLC 0.9.8a running under Windows XP Pro SP3 to my secondary display (TV) and select Fullscreen, it "jumps" over to my primary monitor. Extremely annoying, and it forced me to uninstall and go back to 0.8.6i

Bug in 0.9.8a (dbus detection)?

I'm trying to build 0.9.8a on a CentOS 5.2 host. I get:

checking for DBUS... configure: error: Couldn't find DBus >= 1.0.0, install libdbus-dev ?

But:

[root@vlc ~]# rpm -qa | grep dbus
dbus-glib-0.70-5
dbus-devel-1.0.0-7.el5
dbus-1.0.0-7.el5
dbus-python-0.70-7.el5

Re: Using VLC for streaming server

you can --disable many things, see ./configure --help Yes, I know. But which do I need to --disable and which do I need to leave alone in order to wind up with a binary that'll do what I want? Frankly, I don't even know what most of those options are. I have no doubt most of them do some really coo...

Using VLC for streaming server

I want a replacement for the creaky Windows boxes running dozens of instances of WinSend. So, someone suggested VLS. I looked into that, and found out that it's old and bad and deprecated, and that I should use VLC. So, I grabbed the Dag package for 0.8.6d... and it has a bazillion RPM dependencies....
