I have a Dell Inspiron 15 laptop that dual-boots Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 It works like a peach under Windows. Under Linux, though, when I drag VLC to an external TV connected via HDMI, the sound still plays from the laptop. I poked around in Tools, Preferences but nothing jumped out. Any solutions?
