I'm trying to disable this tooltip as well but can't find how to do it.

I installed windows 8 and vlc again.
Reactivated the plugin but I noted that it doesn't work any more.

Are there people who use this plugin with windows 8?

yes, I checked another 25-30 files.
Every flv mp3 file with mono sound has this problem.
No Stereo file has it.

So it appears to be a conflict with VLC trying to play a mono file in stereo mode?

No, I checked my files in Gspot.
They are stereo files.

The problem is only when playing mono files.

I don't know if it is a bug in the stream being mono or a work-around that works, since I am unable to reproduce.

Now when I play a mp3 file I have to change it in every song.

I remember me that VLC minimized his interface when I played only an audio file (no black window with vlc icon).

Now when I play an audio file the black window with vlc icon within is always present.

Same here (in 1.1.0 and 1.1.1), I had no problems in 1.0.5 and before.

I have a video file H264/Mpeg4-avc (avc1 codec) which doesn't play in VLC.
I only hear the audio.

When I open the file in Media Player classic I can see the video as well.
