Re: VLC not playing videos in OS X Yosemite

Just minutes ago, I installed v 3.0 of VLC from the developers' nightly build. I can't speak for the stability of the current version, but .mkv files play perfectly once I updated. For me, this solves the issue that started appearing once I started using Yosemite.

Re: VLC not playing videos in OS X Yosemite

Only when I try to play .mkv files, I get a vlc screen that doesn't load any video. I wait as long as three minutes, after which, I get a "Not Responding" message after I force quit. I don't seem to have a problem with VLC audio (.mp3) files, or nearly all video (.mp4. .m4v, .flv, .avi, et...

Re: VLC not playing videos in OS X Yosemite

The next time you open a file, it will open to the last time you opened the player. How can you do this with VLC? Fr...

How to disable VLC player?

Most of the time, I want VLC Player as my #1 playback option. Occasionally, however, I will enter a streaming site, and will prefer to use Quicktime Pro to save and encode certain videos. However, when I click on a play link, the VLC software automatically starts up, and there's no way to select Qui...

Re: VLC 0.9.2 extremely choppy video compared to 0.8.6i

I had little success with H264 files; other players had crisp, colorful images, but VLC showed disturbing choppiness. I was even tempted to convert these files to .MOV format, which has worked with me before. As noted by others, this problem emerged after 0.8.6. Bringing caching values to 2000ms seem...
