Re: Logging option

Please try the following example:

and see what happens.

Re: Logging option

I have found the clue:

Code: Select all

vlc INPUT --file-logging --logfile file_log.txt
These options work on version 0.8.6i, but not anymore in version 0.9.8...

Re: Streaming video problem

this should work as first step. If it doesn't then: 1. open vlc from command box. 2. press Ctrl-M. Now you see the messages box. 3. Close VLC (messages box closes automatically now). 4. Enter vlc - vvv dshow:// again. Now you see logging in the message box. If still no success, first start vlc and p...

Streaming to URL instead of ip-address

Hello,

We would like to stream to a URL instead of an ip-address, but it seems this is not implemented. Does anyone know more about this topic?

Re: Windows stream to MP4 crashes

0.9.x on Windows (still) has a problem with x264 encoding. Please use 0.8.6i.

Re: Streaming video problem

I do not fully understand your setup. It looks like you are trying to configure VLC using the integrated remote control, but you describe you want to stream accross your network. Indeed, the documentation is very limited. Is VLC running on your encoder PC? Furthermore, if you want to setup streaming...

Re: low bitrate h264 black screen

which VLC version do you use? To my best knowledge, under windows the latest version were x264 functions is 0.8.6i. Under linux (tested on Ubuntu) x264 also functions in the latest version.

Re: Adding a spaces solves crashes in 0.9.4 & 0.9.6?

It remains strange that VLC crashes in this situation. In my opinion this really is a bug. But, it could very well be that this bug is related to the fact the H264 streaming doesn't work in 0.9.x.

Re: Issues with current Release on Windows

Hereby my latest status on my questions: 1a. Does anyone know which is the latest version were x264/aac encoding works properly? 1b. Is the reason the x264 encoding is broken only a Windows issue, or also a Linux issue? 4. I understood from j-b it is possible to create 2 encoding streams at the same...

Re: Issues with current Release on Windows

VLC_help:
1. See for example https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=52892
2. Just as usual - doubleclick vlc.exe (I am a newbee in VLC, but not in using Windows!)
4. Please be more concrete - this is no answer (I 'm sorry)

Re: Issues with current Release on Windows

Dear j-b, Thank you for your quick response. 1) I cannot help it, but I cannot get 0.8.6 working as before. I really cannot start encoding from the commandline anymore. I use to install it with Dutch language, but it could be I once installed from English version (or vise-versa). But on the other si...

How to get BT878 audio working properly on Ubuntu?

Hello, I am using VLC to encode audio/video into H.264/MPEG4A. For this purpose, I am using an Osprey 210 card using the BT878 chip. However, if I understand well, this chip is not supported by default by ALSA/Ubuntu. You should use OSS for this purpose. I tried to install the ALSA wrapper for OSS a...

Re: Issues with current Release on Windows

I fully agree that 0.9.x is not useful for stream encoding yet. 1.) Even worse, once you have installed it (just on a normal Quadcore Windows PC), and removed it (completely, so also removing directory, cleaning cache etc. according to the instructions I have found) once you install 0.8.6 back, some...
