Emmm must be somethign in the VLC version since I tried 4media trial version and it converted over the files with no sputtering audio. I will try going back a VLC version and see what happens

I am getting this same problem. Only seems to be on some content and only when I transcode to file. I am taking AVI and converting them to mp4 of tv programs for my kids ipod. the video is fine, but the audio on the mp4 is choppy. If I open it up in VLC it appears and soudns just fine. So something ...
