Does VLC Player Display DVD Resolution?

While my 1080p BD collection has grown large, I still have many movies and TV shows on DVD. I wondered how many of the DVDs might be 720p resolution, rather than the lower 480p. How can I get VLC player to verify and display this for each DVD I insert? Also, as 4K is now the broadcast standard, when...

Easy BD Movie Playback and Glitch Free DTS-MA Decoding

Thanks to these guys I was able to get VLC to play most of my BD movies, even without using AnyDVD HD. https://forum.redfox.bz/threads/flawless-1080p-bd-playback-with-vlc-player.85457/page-6 But high res 5.3 audio is essential for my movie enjoyment. But perfecting VLC decoding of DTS-MA to 5.1 PCM ...

Any High End Processors Supporting Lossless 5.1 Audio via JRiver/PowerDVD/VLC players?

While many today choose to stream content, I play lots of 1080p BDs and DVDs, and much prefer using these Windows players. https://jriver.com/ https://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdvd-ultra/features_en_US.html?r=1 https://www.videolan.org/ They decode DTS-MA to a lossless MCH PCM signal, play all...

Why No 1080p BD Movie Playback?

VLC is the only player I know of which has both zoom and slow motion features, which I really enjoy using when playing scenes from good quality commercially pressed DVD movies. But playing 1080p BDs has so far been impossible for me. I just tried playing Criterion Collection's "Gilda" (194...

Still No 1080p Blu-Ray Movie Support AND Zoom Control?

Frankly, it's really sad when I read here today where someone said that as much as they love VLC it's better to switch to using PowerDVD for playing 1080p BD movies. Seriously? After all these years and all the brain power that when into originating and improving on this project-and still no 2K BD m...

Zoom & Slow Motion Control of 2K BDs

The first thing I did here https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=106570&start=100 was to search [ zoom control ] but got no hits. I don't yet have my new desktop but I will want to use it with a Windows player that plays 2K Blu-Ray movie discs and which will allow me slow motion an...

Re: Installing VLC in Fedora 18 for dummies

I went there before. Do i simply install this http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fed ... noarch.rpm ??

Is that the actual VLC for Fedora program-even if it's not the most up to date version?

If yes, then after downloading it, how do i actually install it?

Installing VLC in Fedora 18 for dummies

I had just enough luck and money to find someone to load Fedora 18 onto my Windows XP partitioned ancient Dell desktop. Unfortunately, I am a newbie to almost everything Linux, having spent the last 11 years in Windows XP. I can't read or understand any code expressions, so I wouldn't even know how ...

VLC player 2.1.0 won’t close automatically after playback

I am running version 2.1.0 in Windows XP SP2. The previous version of VLC player closed by itself automatically after playing each file. I can make 2.1.0 it do this after clicking: MediaQuit at end of playlist. But when I click on another file to play (while in MS Explorer) that auto close setting ...

Rip Safely

Mac The Ripper, AnyDVD or which other DVD ripping app would most likely be the "safest" as well as being the easiest to use? That is, I certainly wouldn’t want to use software causing any risk of damage to my original (copy-potected) DVD movie disc-such as making any of its features unplay...

Maximizing & Identifying YouTube download audio quality

I hope this thread isn't too off-topic for Videolan but: Audio quality of music is my main concern when downloading from YouTube (and Vimeo, which I only just discovered). But am I wrong or are there relatively few A/V file viewers? Can you recommend a program that displays an audio or video file’s ...

Best quality youtube downloading?

Re: Icon changes

I had the same problem as soon as I installed VLC player for Windows XP. It changed all my audio/video file icons to the orange/white cone-even of those files it was not used by me to download, create or save. Is there a way to restore the original icons of my files? If yes, please explain the step-...
