Re: Audio stuttering in 1.1.5, but not 1.1.4 and earlier

according to the ticket there will not be a bugfix since reverting the change that introduced this issue for Intel (which was a fix for AMd Cool & Quiet), will even break more systems..

Re: Audio stuttering in 1.1.5, but not 1.1.4 and earlier

if you're using an Asus mobo, are you also using the EPU-engine or some other tool that is under over overclocking your CPU for power management? If so, try turning it off, i've opened the following ticket: http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/4331 - vlc 1.1.5 audio output starving, playing silence e...

Re: Choppy/Glitchy MP3 Audio

I've also reported an issue in ticket http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/4331 vlc 1.1.5 audio output starving, playing silence every 10 sec. using directx audio on Windows XP. Although your issue "sounds" as a different issue (not a clock thing but more of a driver and mine affects all au...

Re: WMV Audio Skips Terribly

I can reproduce this wma problem on win32, tested against vlc-1.0.0-rc1-20090523-0005-win32.exe, rc2 and rc3. Options --codec dmo and --no-video have no effect. Issue does not exist in 0.9.9 and 0.8.6.

Re: No 'wmap' sound support yet in 0.8.6h?

Yeah but unfortunately that isn't enough, this ticket dates back 2 years and is still valid. I've not seen wmap work on any of my systems using dmo (WMP and WMF being part of security updates): http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/883 I've tried to come up with some other guid stuff in dmo.c but neve...

Re: No 'wmap' sound support yet in 0.8.6h?

ffmpeg doesn't support wmap and it's not implemented through dmo yet either (for windows) so it won't work on windows/linux atm.

Re: VLC 0.8.6h crashed on screenshot function

The place for test (beta) versions is the pub/testing folder on FTP. This 0.8.6h was not supposed to be a beta but the real thing (which is why the about box will show 0.8.6h and the file was on FTP already so I understand this can confuse some people) but it was revoked/pulled (broken snapshot bein...

Re: VLC 0.8.6h crashed on screenshot function

Thxn for the report :D Snapshot is fixed in the current 0.8.6-bugfix code and 0.8.6h final will be released shortly. Compared to the initial files that were briefly on the FTP server (which was not final) there are several enhancements: * Fixed a regression in 0.8.6g where usage of the snapshot feat...

Re: new version 0.8.6f (?) on majorgeeks.com...

VLC 0.8.6f has been released officially a few minutes ago. Some sites deeplink to (or even worse download and host copies of) files they happen to find on the main FTP but this does not make it final even if it's on the official FTP and in a folder name with an official name without test.. As packag...

From Windows: Start, Programs, VideoLAN, Quick Settings, Audio, Set Audio mode to Waveout
From GUI: Settings, Preferences, Audio, Output modules, Advanced options -> enable, Output module -> Win32 Waveout. Save, Close and Restart VLC.

Re: In search of VLC stream expert for hire

First step would be to have it run stable in just the VLC player and I don't see that working in either 0.8.6d or 0.9.0 development (even with large cache values). It stops after about 10 seconds with late picture skipped or PTS out of range messages...

Unfortunately nearly all major software web sites announced this broken versiyon as final version. And many people downloaded this version. They shouldn't link to not announced files without MD5 checks and now risk having linked to the wrong ones. Better use the official link from the main site: ht...

Sites that announce downloads like that usually have a habit of just linking to the main download location and don't host themselves, but to be on the safe side always use the download link from the main page: http://www.videolan.org/mirror.php?file=vlc/0.8.6c/win32/vlc-0.8.6c-win32.exe As for Vista...

I'm merely ruling out that it is not necessarily a video problem but an audio problem. That's why I said it isn't practical. I also tried on-board and a PCI card and the issue is the same. But it would help if more people are able to reproduce that the audio part is the culprit.

add --codec dmo to your commandline. FFmpeg doesn't support WVC1 fully yet. dmo will switch to windows .dll's for decoding.
