Re: NAL Units

Re: RC3 H264 encoding quality worse than 0.86i with low bitrates

I have tested h264 encoding on current master, and I'm really unable to reproduce this quality-drop you seem to suffer.

Could you tell me your whole sout-config (eg do you stream it, or file it etc). And if you use linux or os X os Windows.

Re: Vlc 1.0 not running like previous version

So you mean it doesn't go fullscreen on tv even if you have vlc window on tv screen?
or do you mean it goes fullscreen on monitor instead of tv when you fullscreen it on monitor?

Re: webradio recording with ID-Tag

atm vlc doesn't pass meta-info from input to output-muxer, so you can't get artist name or songname

Re: Vlc 1.0 not running like previous version

I don't quite understand whatkinda setup you have, and how it has worked. As for myself with twinview and 2 monitors, chanding primary monitor doesn't do anything for me. Vlc stays fullscreen on monitor it's been fullscreened etc. So do you have somekinda cloned setup or?

Re: RC3 H264 encoding quality worse than 0.86i with low bitrates

did you actually check that bitrate keeps that 384? as default for x264 bitrate is only average-bitrate, not cbr-style top.

Re: RC3 H264 encoding quality worse than 0.86i with low bitrates

you don't define bitrate there at all, so default is 800k, how do you encode those <512kbps streams then?

could you also include your transcode-settings, no need to include defaults.

Yes, I mean your X264 configuration. Also if you haven't compiled those versions yourself (eg encoding in windows or mac) x264 version has changed too.

Re: VLC and Darwin Streaming Server

you could check http://wiki.videolan.org/Documentation:Streaming_HowTo/Streaming_a_live_video_feed_to_Darwin_Streaming_Server_for_Mobile_Phones howto send stream toward dss and steps for it. Also those transcoding-settings are kinda optimistic, eg I don't believe you could archive that low bitrate o...

Re: Transcoding and streaming to Quicktime

VLC is capable of transcoding files that Quicktime can play. Last time I tried, problem was that Quicktime didn't quite understood vlc's rtsp-server replies, not the transcoding. But if you don't need to stream it realtime, you could just convert it to h264/aac/mp4 file, and Quicktime should be able...

Re: Streaming to Android ( HTC MAGIC )

You could try sout-chain from http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=59163&p=203139#p203139 , I've used it to stream for android over 3g-network. Android default browser seems to pickup rtsp-links only from html-pages, not directly typed in, so you need to make 'dummy'-page to contain...

Re: streaming to mobile phone

I've used H264 (baseline-profile, level 1.2) + aac to stream SE G900/Android G1/Nokia-phones with success (iirc nokia didn't quite understood vlc rtsp-server time I tried it, and I used DSS between). I used following transcode:rtp chain to stream G1 just recently (same works in Nokia N95 and iirc SE...

Re: How to convert Main Profile to Baseline Profile?

for vlc you need to specify no-cabac and b-frames=0 to get baseline profile, as cabac is default on.

Re: Building vlc with minimal configuration

Did you check that compile went ok? seems that you don't have rtp-module compiled/installed correctly there.
