Re: Aero-snap and skins

The skins2 engine includes its own Window Manager. In other words, the skins2 engine doesn't rely on the OS Window Manager to perform things like moving a window, resizing a window or maximizing a window. So, the skins2 engine cannot easily benefit from all the fancy things that the OS offers like t...

Re: Increase size of decoded frame buffer?

Actually, very often, the decoder pool size amounts to 20 pictures (VOUT_MAX_PICTURES hardcoded parameter). Only demanding codecs are likely to increase this upper limit (dpb_size parameter). In particular, the cache size (file-caching parameter and the likes) is not taken into account when sizing t...

Re: MinimalX - Preview + Questions

OK, you mean the vlc Skins Editor causes problems ! Well, this editor (written in Java) has been unmaintained for one year or so. To my knowledge, no new volunteer has stepped up so far. I personally directly edit the theme.xml file with a text editor (xml syntax highlighted), which I find a lot fas...

Re: MinimalX - Preview + Questions

Hi, Have you seen the youtube-like skin that was posted lately at http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=111572 ? The author actually used fake windows (the variables) with multiple fake layouts (the values) to simulate user-defined variables with mulitple choices. For instance, for a bo...

Re: Buffer Full Video

This cache is system memory only. So you're likely to run out of memory very soon if you don't consume the cache. IIRC, a nice feature in vlc is the automatic timeshifting. If you pause a stream that cannot be paused (for instance, udp network), vlc will keep on receiving data from the network and s...

A new patch has also been applied regarding 'percentage' sliders. Optional width/height parameters have been added to the Slider tag to allow this initial resizing.
For your use case, syntax would be <Slider width="100%" ......>

. Thanks for this nice skin. Some skins2 bugs are fixed in the next major version (vlc2.1.0) about to be released. You may be interested in testing it. nightly builds are available at http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/source/ - art="true" seems not to work on 2.0.6 and 2.0.7. The covers ...

Re: Problem with libvlc_media_player_set_xwindow failing.

Not sure XSync is enough. You need to wait till you received a notification that that window is created or mapped before sending the xid to vlc. And keep in mind that the Xserver merely transmits requests to the Window Manager. So, things may work differently depending on the Linux distrib and WM yo...

Re: Editing native skin

if you mean editing the Qt default native skin (the default vlc on Windows or Linux), it is not skinnable (no bitmap change) just reconfigurable (button reorder, ...) For what you want to achieve, the skins2 interface is your friend. (The alternative interface shipped with vlc). This is the pointer ...

It works !

You must FIRST select "original size" with the 'o' hotkey. ONLY THEN play with Alt+o" / "Alt+Shift+o" to increase/decrease by a 10% step from this original picture.

Re: Skins2 Plugin has errors when ran through command line

Edit: Previously I tried running skins2 through msys, which would not allow the skins2 plugin to run. When I used cmd it seems to work fine. Is there any reason for this? I got msys through this link http://people.videolan.org/~jb/msys/msys.7z from the http://wiki.videolan.org/Win32CompileMSYS wiki...

Reset the config file, for instance run : vlc -I skins --reset-config

You should get the default skin back and any other skins will be available via the popupmenu.

From what I recall, this may happen when switching fullscreen on and off, and setting up "always on top" around the same moment. Some race condition are not properly checked ! This is a bug, but it should not usually bother you !

Re: Extract all frames from video

Have you checked the logs about frames being dropped ? The following parameters are enabled by default. Maybe, setting them to disabled will help. --drop-late-frames, --no-drop-late-frames Drop late frames (default enabled) This drops frames that are late (arrive to the video output after their inte...

Re: Playing multiple videos concurrently in one instance

With the --input-slave, it doesn't seem like I can play a videos with different bitrates, they are the same video, but one stream is 7Mbps and the other is 8Mbps. I get spammed with: Yes, for --input-slave to perform well, clocks must be compatible. With mpeg-ts files that bring their own PCR, chan...

Re: Playing multiple videos concurrently in one instance

If you use --input-slave, this is one rare situation where the skins2 interface may come handier than the qt4 interface. There are not that many and therefore it is worth noting it ! Just extend a skin with two video tags and you'll see the two videos one next to the other in a nice User Interface. ...

If you want multiple videos for comparison, there are several ways to do that : - just run them in different vlc instances (make sure the one-instance parameter is off) - try to run them with the --input-slave parameter (they should display in two different video tags if the skin has got multiple vi...

Re: Useing Winamp classic skins for VLC

Hola, Good catch. There was a bug regarding layout management. This bug is not related to winamp2 skins specifically, but chances to find it with these winamp2 skins were high because they come in two flavors : a reduced and an expanded main window, which means two layouts with different size at the...
