Re: Video/Resizing Help?

What do you mean with "resizing is a disaster for me" ?

Maybe, choose not to scale images, if it's just a performance problem. Scaling images on the fly can result in resizing not being as smooth as one could expect.

Re: Black Borders on 52" 1080P

If you've got black borders in fullscreen mode, the likelihood is that the aspect-ratio of the source (sar) is different from the aspect ratio of your screen. If for some reasons, vlc failed to detect the right sar, the aspect-ratio parameter (or 'a' hotkey) will allow you to force a new one. Or, yo...

Re: Keep size and aspect ratio over sessions?

- Uncheck "Resize Interface to Video size" in first panel of preferences (Windows or Linux qt4 interface) for new videos not to resize the interface. - Usually, don't tamper with aspect-ratio, as it is intended to force an aspect-ratio (sar), if vlc fails to detect the right one. Most of t...

Re: my_PSP_black on win32 fixed-MOD:please take this patched ver

Note to all skins dev.... For your skins to be valid whatever the platform (Windows and Linux), slash '/' must be preferred to anti-slash '\' in path description. As for this new 'my_PSP_black skins', paths are wrongly referred to in theme.xml for most png images, and there is a bunch of missing png...

Re: Video/Resizing Help?

It could be that the Video tag is not within the Window tag of the window you intend to move.

Beware, skins can have multiple windows. If you happen to dedicate a window tag to a video tag, this is a new window independent of the main window you intend to move.

Well. Its deprecated name was "--x11-event". Renamed since vlc 1.0.0 :)
Name was changed with the hope other platforms would support it as well .... it's still a hope !

@ thannoy, you're right about --ignore-config. Security measures are really painful sometimes

Re: Video Titles new feature

You can create a playlist alternating a still image with video title embedded and the video.
For still image duration, tune the fake-duration parameter (-1 for manual start, or a duration in ms, 10s is the default).

And rather use a m3u playlist, as there may be an issue with xspf format.

Re: Disable double click to go fullscreen in mozilla plugin

What about setting --vout-event at the global level (in vlcrc file) ?

It is not yet? tagged as safe when passed explicitly when launching a video, but it should work if set up as a global parameter (by editing the vlcrc file)

Re: VLC windows dimension change between DVD chapters

uncheck "Resize Interface to video Size" on the first panel of tools / preferences menu item (for qt4 Windows or Linux)

Once it's unchecked, you can resize as you wish and this size will be saved across session.

Re: Features Missing In Skin Mode?

- Yes, "recent Files" is a missing feature in skins mode.
- No, it is not a Windows-only issue

At least, skins mode is now more stable and usable, but more dev work is still needed to implement some features that are only available with the qt4 native interface.

Re: Skin with playlist fully featured??

A few remarks : - A few skins use the default playlist provided by qt4 that you describe (I don't remember which ones) - A parameter --[no]-skinned-playlist should allow you to choose the playlist you wish (seems broken, right now) - When an item is being played, you still have access to the informa...

Yes, it is unfortunate that skins don't resize to default values once the video is terminated. it's a bug ! A few ideas, - It is the skins developper's choice to let a video resize or not. In addition, resize can occur with or without boundaries (min and max). Maybe, elect a skins that behaves nicel...

This parameter is available on Windows and Linux (qt4 interface) (first screen of preferences).
MacOS has got a specific interface, and I don't know if a similar parameter is available.

Re: Annoying auto resize when playing DVD ?

I've tested it on a DVD with chapters too - by default, if you resize a window, the new size is not kept when a chapter changes (it is back to 1:1). I would say this is a bug :( - if you uncheck "Resize interface to video size" and make sure to quit and restart (changes are not taken into ...

Re: VLC 1.0.0 randomly resizing on video

Seems like those black borders are part of the video file. In windowed mode and the "Resize interface to video size" parameter checked (which is the default), the window adapts to the width/height of the video. But, video files can have black borders "hardcoded" in the video. If ...

Okay, two things to do (both in the first panel of preferences) :
- select "Complete" in "display mode"
- uncheck "Resize interface to video size"

With these settings, vlc don't resize at all.

Re: Playlists wont load. cannot create playlists

If you are on Windows, and read an old xspf playlist, it may not work in vlc1.0.0 (location just changed to fully comply with Microsoft URI format which now looks like file:///D:/path/file.ext).

Drag and Drop works fine for me.

As for creating new xspf playlists from scratch, it works fine AFAIK.
