Well I figured out the deinterlacing problem. It had to do with my Nvidia cards "Inverse Telecine" feature. I turned it off then turned it back on and it solved the problem.

I used to use the noise filter in FFDshow to give my videos a nice slight film noise effect, but I can't seem to find anything like that in VLC player.
