WMP is unable to open a MPEG/TS file (... as far as I know).

The only way I see to have WMP open a file streamed by VLC would be to stream it over HTTP, using the avi muxer.

You're right about everything in your post. You have to tell VLC that you're streaming on a multicast address : just use udp://@[multicat address]

What's this "transcoding"? Encoding on-the-fly by any chance? Anyway, I tried to do it this way (by selecting an audio codec (tried mp3 and mpga) in the transcoding options), and it sorta works, but it sounds just awful. Yes, in that case, transcoding means real time encoding. Which bitra...

Well, due to its multiplatform nature, VLC doesn't set the audio volume by modifing the OS mixer's settings (would need a different implementenation for every OS), but by applying a filter, that will change the value of each numeric sample after decoding (somebody corrects me if I'm wrong). You've p...

Well, VLC can only stream from a direct show compatible device on windows, and I'm not sure the Geforce is (I doubt it, in fact...)

It I'm wrong and it is, you'll have the select the dshow input, and the transcode option in stream output proprieties. (you'll need quite a fast computer though...)
