that means that your switch either doesn't support igmp, or isn't set properly...

VLC adds the items to the playlist in the order they arrive... VLC 0.7.0 will include a playlis sortting option.

have a look at the udp-caching parametter (or http-caching if you are streaming over http.)

That should be ok (depending of your ADSL bandwidth), a long as you don't want any precise syncronisation between the 2 independant streams

VideoLAN is unable to stream raw video... In fact, I don't think this would be feasible easily...

ffmpeg tends not to install all its headers on make install... That could be the trick in my opinion...
