Well, forcing VDPAU works too, so there is something else that VLC chooses to use when using default "auto" setting

The "inhibit power management" also works when video is paused.
This means that if I pause a video, even minimize it, - my computer will never lock the screen, or blank it. - security risk.

This feature should be *only* active while playing video.

Tested on Ubuntu 12.04

same problem here, on ubuntu 10.04 , worked very well until a recent update, every other player I have still works fine, but VLC is out of sync.
please fix the regression.

VLC on Ubuntu does not seem to care about USB HID standard media control buttons on keyboard (play,pause,stop,next,prev)
- other applications work well with these..

"Unable to open 'http/shout-winamp://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/newxml.phtml'"

a crazy, invalid, link, a while into playing *any* type of media.
why ? -how to get rid of it ?
