Re: Last.fm Scrobbling request

I'm trying to find out if the mobile VLC versions support scrobbling internally. I could just scrobble an album on my old Sony Xperia and the latest VLC Android version 3.5.3 with Simple Scrobbler, but I think the VLC Android app does not have an internal scrobbling option like the desktop version 3...

Re: Add Last.fm support

Yesterday I read a related thread on Reddit where someone asked if the iOS version of VLC would scrobble though which it probably doesn't. The official Last.fm iOS app cannot support scrobbling VLC or any other iOS player app, because iOS does not allow this, as far as I know. So implementing it the...

Re: Add Last.fm support

In my opinion it is not necessary if scrobbling local audio files from an Android device with VLC can also be provided by the official Last.fm Android app and probably other external Android scrobbler apps as well. Maybe there are other ways of using VLC where scrobbling would be desirable (local vi...

Re: Windows 10 - VLC from Windows Store

Hi, thank you for your reply. Right now I'm playing single tracks and full albums with the MS Store version at 125% scaling, but not in fullscreen mode, i.e. I'm using the default window size. This seems to work better than in a maximised window, but as I am writing this, VLC crashed again after fou...

Re: Audioscrobbler cache

As far as I know, the new desktop, MS Store and Android versions do not have an offline cache for scrobbles, but on Android the official Last.fm for Android app is able to scrobble VLC and provides an offline scrobbling cache which submits them when you have a WLAN connection to the internet again. ...

Re: Add Last.fm support

Hi Jean-Baptiste, thanks for your reply. I just installed the new Android version on my Samsung Galaxy S II, and you are correct, there is no internal setting for scrobbling like in the Windows 10 app. But it seems that the official Last.fm Android app is able to scrobble what VLC plays, so that mig...

Re: Windows 10 - VLC from Windows Store

I have the same problem with my local MP3 files, both when playing an album or single tracks. I'm on Windows 10 Home, version 1803, build 17134.191. I'm using the recommended screen resolution of 1680x1050 with 125% scaling . Maybe that is a hint, as the background image constantly fades in and out ...

Re: VLC not scrobbling

I can confirm that the internal scrobbling option of the new desktop version 3.0.3 works again. The new MS Store version 3.1.0.0 scrobbles, too (available in Music settings), but seems to crash after playing the first song. Furthermore it scrobbles at the beginning of a track which is not very commo...

I guess you rather mean searching through / jumping to cached content, maybe scrolling?

Re: Add Last.fm support

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but after reading the available descriptions of the new Android version I could not find a hint to internal Last.fm scrobbling in the VLC Android app. I was pleased to see that it works again in the desktop version 3.0.3 as well as in the MS Store app and would lik...

There is a workaround for Windows users by installing the foobar plugin from the official Last.fm scrobbler in the VLC folder. See my reply on the support forum hosted on Get Satisfaction.

Well it seems a mp4/m4a plugin is missing, but personally i have no clue why. This module should always be compiled by VLC. it's one of it's default modules. My guess is that using the demuxer for M4A files is wrong, because the aacPlus streams don't have anything to do with the MP4 file format, th...

Re: aacPlus multichannel support on Mac OS X

Does VideoLAN support 5.1 playback of aacPlus on Mac OS X? Also, does it support sample rates up to 96kHz? (does FAAD2 for that matter?) I'm not sure, but isn't multichannel playback impossible on the current Mac OS X version? That would mean that VLC for Mac couldn't handle it either. The only way...

Re: AACPlus Streams...

Plays for a bit then begins to cut here and there. Sounds like a skipping record. Using a Mac OSX 10.3.3 - VLC 0.8.0 2 - tried 4 different streams - all do the same. Listen to MP3 streams and it doesn't skip once. This could be caused by the higher decoding complexity of aacPlus, i.e. your CPU migh...

By the way, there is an open source decoder (maybe even encoder) for AMR-NarrowBand available from 3GPP, as far as I know. And you could have a look at the GPAC project on SourceForge which offers decoding of .3gp files in their Osmo4 player and also muxing of these audio tracks with MP4Box. MPEG4IP...

Problem fixed. Thanks for the report.
And DJ also found the problem specific to the Mac OS X version tonight (latest FAAD2 snapshot used an outdated header from an older snapshot on his system), so I guess this means VLC can now decode these streams with all OS versions (also Linux), right?

48 kbps HE AAC stream from SomaFM.com

Does VLC already support decoding this HTTP stream, also with the Linux and Mac OS X versions, or can it only play RTSP streams with MP4 audio content? It seems that XMMS cannot play it yet, although its MP4 plugin is based on FAAD2 and can decode AAC ADTS as well as MP4 files. So Linux users do not...

Also, VLC is not known to be a good fileconverter. Both are mp4 and avi containers aren't 100% correct. OK, but there's still the possibility that Dave used e.g. XviD's "packed B-frames" setting for the AVI container and tried to simply remux it to MP4 which doesn't work with the usual MP...

ffmpeg includes libfaac now

I would like to add that the new prebeta version of ffmpeg includes libfaac now, so maybe it's not necessary anymore to use the switches described in this thread, and implementation of FAAC in VLC and other open source projects relying on ffmpeg becomes easier this way. Perhaps Gibalou or The DJ cou...
