maybe it's not VLC's fault. It might be the pulse-alsa plugin that its configured with only 2 channels. I'll try playing with it.

Same here.. Since the VLC became with the 0.9.x version to the best player EVER, it would be reeeeeeeeealy awesome if it's pulse plugin would support 6 channels. PLEAAAAAAAAAASE!!
