I've noticed this issue as well.

I've seen this happening ONLY when i play VCDs on my PC (Windows XP) when using Skins2.

i've got some requests for VLC:

* force change of aspect ratio (e.g. 16:9 to 4:3 or something)

* allow hue/saturation/brightness/video appearance changes from within the VLC program itself (no going into menus etc)

* Allow auto-detection of DVD drives?

It depends on which skin you use. Most of the skins listed under the skins2 page are like that (as in... the video is displayed in another window) As far as i know, the last two skins listed on the skins2 page allow you to view the videos inside the skin itself (and not in another window). I believe ive found the solution to your problem...

Disable "Volume Normalizer" in the Audio section (you will need to enable advanced options for this)

I dont think this is a skin issue, but most probably an issue with VLC.

But just to let you know, i've got an nforce motherboard as well, and i have never experienced this issue.

is there any option to force 5.1 audio on stereo tracks?

by this i mean... left side audio is reciprocated to the rear left as well... and right side audio is reciprocated to the rear right.. and somehow get some audio in center channel

you have to .tar.gz the file then rename the "yourskin.tar.gz" to "yourskin.vlt"

Why can't I get VLC to do something it claims it is able to do?

it doesnt claim that its able to do it... it DOES IT... DVDs work perfect for me... maybe some issues with the way your system is setup?

vlc doesnt use 3rd party codecs for playing DVDs...

have you tried using a different channel mixer... (under preferences, click on advanced tab and you will be able to modify your audio mixer...)
