Re: dark picture. used to work fine

reset your nVidia drivers preferences, especially overlay settings. It's in your video drivers, not related to VLC.

Re: Stuttering audio in Vista

What kind of video are you playing? If you are playing video from a video_ts folder, I get stutters (and heavy hard drive activity, even in this new version) UNLESS I open my media like so: "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC 0.8.4\vlc.exe" "dvdsimple://F:\VIDEO_TS" (you change your v...

Re: Crash w/ simple "No DVD menus".

Thanks for the information! I thought I was going crazy since I had been using that feature for months and months. So what is the best way to open a VIDEO_TS folder that has NO DVD MENUS then? Thanks again for any info. Another thing that used to work with version 8.6 is SAVING THE SOUND LEVEL. Now ...

Crash w/ simple "No DVD menus".

With the newer version of VLC, the application totally crashes when using open disk with "No DVD menus" checked.

I used to do this all the time!

What changed?

Thanks!

Great work on the new versions btw. I really like the full screen controls. Fantastic!

Re: 0.8.x Still A Better Player...

Just an observation. I mostly play VIDEO_TS folders that have no menus. If you are like me, you need to do this: Media->Open Disc, make sure you check "NO DVD menus", then browse for your directory. This puts VLC in "dvdsimple" mode. If you do not check the no dvd menus, you will...

Re: Equilizer Enabled Checkbox

I think it is related, but different.

That item talks about the mis-behavior of the controls.

I just want the actual checkbox to stick.

They are related.

Thanks for looking it up!

Santé!

Equilizer Enabled Checkbox

The "Equilizer Enabled Checkbox" under the "extended GUI" doesn't save if you check it. When you come back in VLC, you have to manually re-check it.

Thought I'd point that out for the next release!

Again, thanks all for a GREAT media player!

When does version "9" come out?

There are big changes in version "9" when it comes to playing modes?

Cheers!

Bug with "Open Directory" ?

Hello. Just a quick note to tell you that VLC is my primary media player and I LOVE IT. It's fantastic. Having said that, please allow me to report something "funky". I have DVD medias with one "VIDEO_TS" folder on them. If I open them with the "Open Directory" option f...

VLC on Linux(Debian) with 4-speaker output?

Guys, this is just a general question about Linux, mostly. Can Linux output to 4-speaker like a Windows system can? does it have the right drivers for it in most cases? Can VLC then use that output and produce quad surround sound like I do on my Vista machine? (2-front, 2-rear output) Thanks for any...

Re: VLC install on Linux Debian

thanks for your reply! I tried again, and did the apt-update 1st. This time it only asked me for the CD. Weird. I am not sure which version I am running, but it is asking for CD: Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 r3 _Etch_ - Official CD Binary-1 ... I am not sure how to inquire which version I am running, WINVER...

VLC install on Linux Debian

VLC install on Linux Debian... I followed the instructions on the download page for this. After adding the paths to /etc/apt/sources.list, tried this: # apt-get install vlc libdvdcss2 then it said that libdvdcss2 cannot be found (or is obsolete). So I tried just # apt-get install vlc It downloaded t...

Praises to VLC!

With the new arrival of PureVideo DVD Decoder codec from nVidia, there is another option to decode mpeg2. I tried the nVidia codec solution, and it did not work properly. Possibly because of other (unwanted) codecs installed on my machine. For the life of me I cannot uninstall those codecs and make ...

DJ, I will try the DVDSimple option. You could be right. The DVDs I have had stutter were opened with "open folder" and not dvdsimple. This gives me a new thing to try next time I witness video stuttering. Thanks. For future reference, my computer is not a slow and crappy one. I play graph...

Actually, I got the same video stutter problem playing a DVD movie from a video_ts folder on my hard drive.

So the media thing is not necessarily a proven theory.

what does "xp compatible pc" mean exactly?

are you running Windows XP ?

what are your computer specs? (CPU, RAM, Video card, Sound card etc.)

That information is vital if you want anybody to help you.

Does anybody know what the current VLC version does with LFE when in analog 4 speaker mode? (without a subwoofer)

I have been running 4 speaker mode and have NOT noticed lack of bass. Is it possible that the current version already downmixes the low freqs into all speakers????

cheers.
