VLM Streaming control --> Java app?

Hi, So, few years ago I set up VLC to stream cable from the other side of the globe using very long VLM config file (over 60 channels) to keep up with what's going on in my native country :) I send Play and Stop commands to server PC through HTTP interface (http://127.0.0.1:8080/vlm.html) and this m...

Re: Capturing Clear QAM (ATSC) - help needed with vlc1.0.0-rc4

Just checking in to bump this thread (If I may) and find out if there is any interest from VLC Guru Developers to look into this issue (Digital cable capture), now that 1.0.2 is out ;)

Thanks!

Re: RC3 H264 encoding quality worse than 0.86i with low bitrates

I think I got it FIXED!!! :)

Instead of above default values, set:

How AQ attributes bits = 1
Strength of AQ = 0.50

Does that fix the issue for anyone else?

Re: RC3 H264 encoding quality worse than 0.86i with low bitrates

Same problem here. My 350k H.264+AAC live TV stream looks much worse when created with 1.0.1 with the same x264 settings as with 0.86i. On several occasions I've also seen 1000k streams to be OK for a a minute or so, and then suddenly drop significantly in quality. However I noticed that under Prefe...

OK, playlist looks like this: #EXTINF:1,CNN #EXTVLCOPT:program=7 atsc://frequency=579000000:bandwidth=6 Here's when the first problem starts. The playlist will not work if do not open capture device with some other application, in my case Beyond TV Trial. This is what I get in Messages - VLC is stuc...

Re: Capturing Clear QAM (ATSC) - help needed with vlc1.0.0-rc4

I think Channels.conf is not used on Windows. This file is for Linux only. For making things easier I'm using a playlist as described in this post: http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?p=182301#p182301 But keep in mind that you are using ATSC so your command line should begin with atsc:// and no...

Re: Capturing Clear QAM (ATSC) - help needed with vlc1.0.0-rc4

Noone knows, I guess :D Fill a bug, please. Done! Ticket #2958. Thanks! I can confirm the described behavior using VLC 1.0, a Hauppauge HVR-2250 and TSReader Lite to tune the card. Once TSReader tunes a channel, I can close it and open VLC using the command "vlc dvb://" and get the same c...

Capturing Clear QAM (ATSC) - help needed with vlc1.0.0-rc4

Hi, Capturing Clear QAM (ATSC) seems to be broken - not sure whether it's an issue with how VLC handles "channels.conf" playlist file and its syntax or capturing ATSC in general is not working or both. Please see my thread for more details - http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&...

Re: Capturing Clear QAM (ATSC) - help needed with vlc1.0.0-rc4

I apologize for those multiple posts but I hope j-b or anyone else on the team could help me get QAM working with help of "channels.conf" playlist file. I'm using AverTV Combo PCI-E which is a QAM tuner, and as far as I know drivers support QAM under Windows XP Pro. What I can do right now...

Re: Capturing Clear QAM (ATSC) - help needed with vlc1.0.0-rc4

OK, so I've been reading a little today, and it turns out this can be done through: Open Capture Device --> Capture Mode: DVB DS --> ATSC OR "channels.conf" file. First, I tried creating and opening "channels.conf" file, where channels are configured as e.g. CNN:579000000:QAM_256...

Capturing Clear QAM (ATSC) - help needed with vlc1.0.0-rc4

Hi, I've been capturing and streaming analog TV using VLC for almost a year now. Awesome piece of software! Since Comcast turned channels above 31 from analog to digital, I had to switch to digital TV tuner. It turned out that (at least currently) all channels are unencrypted Clear QAM, so no cable ...

Re: New Windows builds for vlc 1.0.0-dev

Can you try with no-audio-transcode?
I tried modifying VLM script to this...

Code: Select all

#transcode{vcodec=h264,vb=268,deinterlace,scale=1}:duplicate{dst=std{access=http,mux=ts,dst=192.168.0.106:8080}}
... and it still crashed :( Transcoding without audio through user interface also crashed VLC.

Thank you, that's what I thought. Would 0.8.6i support .hosts file then? I looked into /http/old/ folder, and .hosts is not there. I need to use 0.8.6i as this is the last build capable of streaming H.264 + AAC without crashing...

How to restrict access to VLC web interface?

Hi,

I have one simple question. Just like in the subject - can that be done? I mean, access to be allowed only with password, similar to telnet interface access?

Thanks!

Hi j-b, Streaming server is VLC 0.8.6i with mux=asf input. Yes, I know it's not mux=ts, but only mux=asf input works properly for me when streaming H.264 / AAC. Otherwise I just can't get sound to work at all. My streaming client is VLC 0.9.2, and now I'm testing the latest nightly 0.9.3 - same resu...
