the url to the VOD wiki page has been changed to : http://apps.ouwu.com/confluence/display ... +on+Demand
The old site will be shutdown soon.
I am also going to work on the 3.0 version. will probably release it with the VideoDB.
Sorry guys. I've been traveling for the past month but now I am back.
us99xp: did you install the VOD to its default location? there should be a folder "vod" under the root of your videodb.
I'll see if I can make this more robust.
allo guys.
The good news is that I have just finished testing the code for windows server and everything seems to be working fine.
The bad news is: none.
I'm writing an simple installation UI . should be done shortly.
: )
My site is back online now. Sorry guys for not noticing the posts here. I have been busy with work and few other personal projects. A user who tried this VOD mod modified the code and now made it to work on windows server as well. I'll test it in a few days and will post the Windows package on my si...
Brunovernay,
Not sure what you meant... but if you just configure the root of all your videos in the vod configuration then vod mod will find the files for all the movies in VideoDB.
You are right. The file somehow got corrupted if downloading from that page via Confluence wiki. I have changed the format to bzip and that seemed fixed the issue. You should be able to untar it by using.
"tar -jxvf videodb_vod.tar.bz"
It uses http. I used to convert all my files to ogm so that it would see and also I can include subtitles.. very sweet indeed. However there was an A/V sync issue back then.
ogm and mpg files are also seekable. I have no luck with avi as well. I had converted my avi files to ogm in the past but it's just too much work.
Let me know if you find a solution.
:) Thank you. Another VideoDB user actually wrote something similar last semester but it works on windows server only. I'll post his mod to my wiki as well soon. Don't know if you 'll be interested as his mod has nothing to do with VideoLAN. I do have a question though. As this works great, I couldn...
the patch is a simple reg fix. It's VLC zipped version + a URI handler; and the installer simply copy it to c:\program files\VideoLAN\VLC then apply the URI handler. THis way it doesn't mess up with the system in any way. :) the content of the URI handler reg file: Windows Registry Editor Version 5....
I'll look into the UDP way of streaming video files. but I have no problem here at all. I watch all my videos over a 802.11g connection which gives me a really smooth playback.
Some files don't play in vlc (and it's not because of the video files) so,
I just updated the vlcstream.php file. Hopefully this will solve the problem.
DJ, thanks for pointing that out. what should it be called then ? I googled around and the def I found for vod is : ... are systems which allow users to select and watch video content over a network as part of an interactive television system. (from wikipedia). --------------------------------------...
I'll have it posted here later this week.
btw, where should I post it at wiki.videolan.org? I looked around and dont really know where is the approperiate place to post it. :S
