I think it has changed between versions. Another quick update, if I change the Audio channels in VLC, the sound comes back. So for now I'm stuck with switching between Stereo and Reverse Stereo whenever my sound goes out. I'm starting to understand why so many people use MP Classic instead of VLC.
there are
many reasons to use MP classic
but you can't take away the advantages of VLC :)

My MPEG 2 decoder does a real good job of playing all the MPEG files I through at it. So all that is necessary is to select MPEG PS (no audio or video options) and name the file anything.mpeg. Big improvement.. definately watchable now. And the picture looks just as good as before? presumably ive just lowered the quality in favour of performance? but i dont notice it anyway so its all good :D you'll notice it only if you'll see it in a big screen if you want to attach it to a big LCD :) ...

if ur segfault does not produce a core dump then type "ulimit -c unlimited" on ur session and try again. Why things must be so complicated. I don;t understand much and luckly this is not my problem this time. However just trying to get this code dump .... it's sounds not so user friendly....

Hello, THE VP6 codec dont work i cant watch stream using this codec :( bye I am having the same problem. I tried to download a codec peck from the net and it didn't help. I know this topic is old .... but maybe someone is still reading. Is it possible that one codec will clash with another one ?
