Can you recommend any tools that can help with this? The Hardware Compatibility page (http://wiki.videolan.org/Hardware_Compatibility_list) makes mention of using out pin 656 for one card. As I said in a previous post, I went from -1 to 25 and find it very hard to believe that isn't a better method ...

Is there a better way for me to get the video input pin rather than trial and error? I can't even tell how high the pins go.

I tried all the values from -1 to 25 and I still just get the blue screen. Anything else I can try?

I'm having the same problem. The ATI application displays TV as expected, but VLC just shows a blue box. I even tried putting the card in a Kubuntu system, but I still have the same problem.

After fiddling with it for a while, I did notice that and made the change. Now, regardless of what channel I select, all I get is a blue screen - no picture. Do I need to specify the input in VideoLAN somewhere? I see a "Tuner" option that defaults to -1 and just increment, but I don't kno...
