player hangs upon end of video in full screen mode

My problem is that most of the time I am playing a video in full screen mode and it reaches the end, it will hang and I have to use a process kill program. Often the fullscreen turns into an all white window (taking up the whole screen) with a close box, which if I click a few times a windows dialog...

command line file spec \\name\file no longer working

I just downloaded the latest version of vlc, 1.1.11 and my scripts which invoke vlc with a file name no longer work if the file is on a remote windows share using the format of \\machine\filespec.... This used to work just fine on 1.0.5, the previous version I had been using. I get an error that say...

multiple monitor problems if monitor 2 is on the left side

I have a windows setup (on win 2000 and win xp using v1.0.5 - and earlier 1.0.x) where my extra monitor is to the left of the main monitor. In this case, the windows coordinates are negative in the x direction. The start button is on monitor one. It looks like this: +------------+ +-------------+ |[...

Re: VLC 1.0 freezes computer

Can vlc crash a computer? Well, technically, no, but vlc certainly can make requests of drivers and/or libraries that will crash the system. So, who's fault is it? Well, from a software developer standpoint, the finger will always be pointed to the drivers, since only drivers run at the protected ke...

Re: v1.00 crash 50% on http play - possible race condition?

First time users find most bugs and they are also going to be turned off by difficult bug reporting. Well most bug reports done by normal users are quite horrible and they don't really help us. That is why we try to get most people report bugs to forums and open tickets when needed. And I think thi...

Re: v1.00 crash 50% on http play - possible race condition?

You don't have to go to IRC. Just say your trac username here. Well, I don't remember that one either. It's probably similar to my login here, rocketxxx (777 or 888 etc.) What does the ticket button at the top of this window do? All I see is that it enters [ ticket ] /ticket] around text. Why not h...

Re: v1.00 crash 50% on http play - possible race condition?

Well, I would file a bug report, but to be honest, it's just too difficult. I did this once, registered, went to some irc chat, got permission, yadda yadda yadda, and of course since it's been a while I don't know my login anymore, and it's just too painful to try to do it all again. Maybe someone a...

Re: drag and drop video onto vlc crashes program

Well, I just went to verify that. And this is correct (only happens on the first time when the window is small), EXCEPT that it does not happen every time. In fact, I've just noticed a similarity with my other crash posted (http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=62083) Sometimes, after i...

v1.00 crash 50% on http play - possible race condition?

I think I've been able to narrow down my crashes. They seem to be right after I send in a play request over the http interface. It happens about 1/2 the time. But it's in spurts, say 5 crashes in a row, then it works 3 times in a row. This feels like a timing bug. I get a crash, the crashdump file i...

Re: how can i keep 0.99 and 1.00 on same win/xp computer

Where is this Config argument being set, on Windows XP ? I've set it in two ways, one is via a shortcut as a command line argument in the target text box. The other way is via a command line execution (not sure how it's actually done), which I invoke from the tcl scripting language using the exec c...

Re: how can i keep 0.99 and 1.00 on same win/xp computer

Where does it save the information that it just crashed? In the config folder you'll find a file called "crashdump" after VLC has crashed. I found it, but is it supposed to be a zero length file? Where does it actually store anything to send in? I was hoping to find something useful that ...

Re: drag and drop video onto vlc crashes program

I am using --config to point to my own location, and so the app directory is still from my 0.99 installation. I've only unzipped the 1.0.0 version into another directory. This may be crucial here, as when I run this on an installed version on win2k, it does not crash. UPDATE: I just tried it by firs...

Re: how can i keep 0.99 and 1.00 on same win/xp computer

Ahh, great, this does work. I unzipped into a folder and run from there and also use --config. One more question. Where does it save the information that it just crashed? I have been having a lot of crashes, and somehow vlc KNOWS that it crashed on the next startup. I can't see that it's storing thi...

drag and drop video onto vlc crashes program

I run vlc. I get the smallish startup window with the position slider, play button, etc. If I drag/drop a video onto this window I get a crashed program. Running vlc 1.0.0 on windows xp. The next time I run vlc, it asks if I want to send in a bug report. (Is this really monitored? should I click yes?)

fullscreen toolbar time transparency = unreadable

When running fullscreen and viewing the play toolbar, the text that display the time and length are difficult to see because of some transparency issue. It seems that the color being used to write the time/length is the color that is transparent. If the background is very light (white) then the text...

how can i keep 0.99 and 1.00 on same win/xp computer

I want to keep trying out the new features and report any problems with v 1.00 but it's just too unstable. Its a real pain to keep uninstalling a working version and then installing the new version. Can multiple versions be on at the same time? I'm on XP so the question becomes, does vlc write to th...

how do i stop the crash-send-bug-report-athon on xp

I installed the latest version 1.0 on my xp laptop, and I played a few mpeg movies, tried out some features and then after about 10 minutes, something happened. I quit the program (actually I might have killed the process externally - as I've done a zillion times on earlier versions) and some time l...

Re: mpeg2 playback colors mostly wrong - very blue

Ok, I see, I need to set it up using openGL mode, for the colors to be correct. If I revert back to 0.8.6, my prior version, this was/is not necessary. in particular, I can use direct3d or direct-x mode with the older version. I also see that v 1.0.0-rc3, which I just tried, seems much more choppy i...

mpeg2 playback colors mostly wrong - very blue

Just did a quick test of vlc-1.0.0-rc2-win32.exe which I just dloaded. All the colors seem to be wrong. It didn't matter if I used my old configuration or let it create a new one. The colors are all bluish. I'm running this on a windows 2000 system inside a virtual vmware machine, but I don't think ...

Re: How drive vlc (interface rc) with tcl

When I look at the link at http://wiki.videolan.org/VLM all it shows it how to run the telnet or http interfaces, but nothing about how to actually send commands. Is there another place that actually shows how to use the telnet or http interfaces , not just how to get them running from vlc. I've tri...

how can I remotely send slower/faster to vlc

I'm looking for a way to remotely speed up or slow down, i.e. send the faster/slower command but from an external program. I'm running 0.99 on windows xp. http fullscreen toggle fails when deinterlace on

I've got two versions of vlc, .099 and .096 and both have this problem that if I turn on deinterlacing, fullscreen toggle through http fails (works if delinterlace is off). I can toggle fullscreen, but only by using the mouse directly (d-click or choose fullscreen menu item). Nothing is reported in ...

On linux (I use ubuntu) I can have a window open that is a windows shared directory, using smb. I can right-click these files and have them startup with vlc via the right click context menu. However, if I choose open file... from within vlc I cannot navigate to these shared files, as I can in window...
