Re: VLC won't save resize setting (but other settings work)

Hi lucacerone, Thanks for your thoughts on the matter. I think I'm not having the same type of problem as you. The setting I'm changing, as I tried (perhaps unsuccessfully) to explain above, is a setting that is available in the GUI preferences. If you go in the GUI to Advanced Settings > Interface ...

VLC won't save resize setting (but other settings work)

I have VLC set to its default setting, to resize to the native video size, but it's not doing so when launched. I noticed after restarting my computer, the first time I open a video file VLC resizes as expected. But if I close it and reopen the same file or another file, it fails to resize to the na...

Thanks for the suggestion. I have the "codecs" package installed from AUR, which supposedly includes the win32codecs. http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=2697 It installs the "all" package from: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/ So unfortunately that doesn't s...

Re: DVD works on VLC in Windows, but not Arch Linux

I hesitated to install VLC 1.0.1 in Windows, under the principle if it's not broke don't fix it. Is there a way to revert to 0.8.6d if I try 1.0.1? That said, unfortunately I had to return the DVD sooner than I thought, so I can't troubleshoot this problem effectively anymore. It curious, because th...

DVD works on VLC in Windows, but not Arch Linux

I have a DVD that I can't get to play under Arch Linux. Other DVDs play fine. I'm using VLC 1.0.1 in Arch and I do have libdvdcss installed. With VLC the DVD menu comes up, but when I hit play I get choppy sound and no picture. I get these errors from the terminal: [0x7f91f4000c18] main input error:...

Re: No suitable decoder module for fourcc `XVID' [Solved]

I had the same problem with vlc 0.8.6.e-2.3+b1 in debian-testing and solved it as follows: -- Uninstall vlc and all its dependencies. -- Remove all installed packages from the repository http://www.debian-multimedia.org with Synaptic. -- Remove http://www.debian-multimedia.org from my sources.list....
