I have the same issue on the 64bit version.
Since updating to Rincewind I've lost passthrough of DD,DTS to my receiver. The option to enable SPDIF has gone from preferences.

Reverting to 2.1.0 did nothing to help, going further back to 2.0.5 fixed it for me.

Hi, I realise this discussion is years old, but was there ever a real fix? I'm still having this problem now trying to outout DTS via SPDIF with version 0.8.6h. I know it's mainly intended for network streaming and such but I'm a huge fan of VLC and would hate to have to use a another player. Any he...
