There is strange problem with any 4k content (uhd, dci) with vlc. Does not matter if it's h264 or h265, I alwayas have playback stop and message as posted above. But I just noticed, that problem does not exist on Windows, so I'm going to start new thread on Linux section.

I'm happy to report, that 4k dci h264 doesn't work too. My test file, 4k DCI, 60 Mbps, H264, mp4. VLC freezes after a few seconds, the only thing I can do is to kill vlc process. Still nothing works, sorry. XBMC or mplayer plays the same file without any problems.

It does not matter if any of these tracks is marked as default or not. Always the same - first track is played in embedded display and second video track playing in standalone window (for example, called Direct3D output). The same issue if I set first track as default and second track as not default...

Not really, because this file size is about 15 GB. All I can do is to cut it using mkvtoolnix and upload little part somewhere. But this issue exist for any 1080p h.264/AVC mkv so you can try if you have one.

After nvidia driver upgrade to 295.51 gpu acceleration on Windows does not work anymore but still works in SplashLite. GPU: Nvidia GT220, Windows 7 x64, vlc 1.1.11. Also, gpu decoding works on directX output with smplayer on Windows, but still 1080p decoding is poor.

The same in my case. Some movies causes vlc to crash immediatelly when using vaapi hardware decoding. And other movies works fine. The same codec (h.264/avc) and the same containter (mkv). I've also tested the same movies with smplayer (vdpau) and xbmc (vaapi and vdpau) and hardware decodings works ...
