Re: X264 .MKV file on VLC... cannot play, help MAC NOOB!!

gotta add my 2 sense in this one. I don't know if Mr. Derk-Jan Hartman was having a bad day or what but the statement quoted above me is 100% false. My machine plays back 1080p flawlessly with PLEX on OSX, and MPC under Windows. The issue IS NOT PEOPLES HARDWARE. It's your applications single thread...

Re: Help us! Looking for HD material that stutter in VLC

Temp solution is use Plex, till they get it sorted atleast. Had high hopes for 0.9.2 but no. That decoder can't be added to VLC? XBMC is open source.

Re: Help us! Looking for HD material that stutter in VLC

The Planet Earth 1080P encodes stutter like crazy on my 2.6 quad mac pro, (8g ram & 8800GT). Sorry no sample since its all copyright stuff but here is the video stream specs anyway incase they help. They are probably the most demanding encodes I have and give me the worst playback. Codec: x264 B...

Re: The big VLC for Mac OS X Intel and UB thread

been a few months. Anyone know the progress of this multi threaded FFmpeg decoder. My 1080P h.264 collection and mac pro are dying for an update. I need to use those other 3 cores to get proper playback of high bitrate stuff. 8800GT card upgrade didn't seem to help to much with the load.

Re: Choppy 1080p video on 2.8GHz Core 2 Extreme iMac

well I figured it out by doing some reading on the forum. VLC uses a decoder that only uses a single core. That is why you only use under 50% CPU and I only use 25% and we get bad playback. From what I read the FFmpeg team is working on a multi-threaded decoder. Can't express how much I look forward...

Re: Choppy 1080p video on 2.8GHz Core 2 Extreme iMac

I have the exact same issue, but with a mac pro. My CPU usage ranges from 20-25% but some 1080P stuff, mostly higher bitrate, is choppy and gives me slow machine, dropped frames errors. I only see 1 core working at a time in activity monitor, although it does switch cores constantly. VLC is multi th...
