Is there a simple way to check if the hardware decoding is enabled? Like in MPC! (a indicator on screen for few seconds!).

Why with "Media Player Classic - Home Cinema" I can view mkv (720p) smoothly with my slow processor (Ahtlon Xp 3200+ and Radeon X1950XT) and this doesn't with VLC, even with GPU support activeted?

When I play a file with the wmv extension I use the fast forward button or I move the cursor the video freeze for a few seconds, then the audio plays along with a distorted video and it plays normally after a while.
