Anyway there seems to be a problem in selecting the right access module.

I also encountered this problem. The vlc 0.9.2 browser plugin (tested in ff 3.0.1) chooses the mms access module instead of the http access module. The dm500 doesn't always include the PMT in the transport stream. Therefore vlc doesn't know what to do. Don't know if it's really a vlc bug.
